Not a shred of actual, testable evidence in thousands of years. Nothing. To be fair the better part of those thousands of years was spent doing dumbshit instead of paying attention. Well, ya know what I meant though. For however long there've been legends and whatnot, there's been no actual proof that can be tested and repeated, because there's nothing there to find.

I know people who work in nursing homes and they all have stories to tell of working late and seeing ghosts. Like when they see what they think is a normal resident up late, who then disappear when they look away and look back again.
My mother in law has this good story about one patient who used to say to her, "look at that woman riding a bicycle on the ceiling." Obviously these are very old people suffering from dementia so she didn't think much of it. Anyway the woman dies, new resident moves into the room, they die and someone else moves in. Several years later she's working downstairs and one of the younger nurses comes downstairs and just passes comment that one of the old ladies was talking about seeing a woman riding a bicycle on the ceiling.
Also Dave Finley's mother was one of the residents at the home once. My mother in law said he was a very nice man who was good to his mother as well as the other redsidents.

I'm not a believer in ghosts but I do enjoy being spooked and being in places with eerie atmospheres, so ghost hunting sounds like a blast. I like to walk in these creepy country lanes around my home, when its dark or super foggy, makes me feel like I am in a Silent Hill game or something. I love ghost stories also. Anyway, though I don't believe in this stuff, I would never ridicule someone for believing they have had a paranormal experience though because I think the tricks of the mind can be very convincing. I get sleep paralysis now and again and see black humanoid shapes in my room, its some spooky shit, of course I know those shapes are just a construct of my mind but that doesn't make the experience and feeling any less real or frightening.
So basically I don't believe in them but find the thought of them very interesting and the psychology behind "seeing a ghost" is pretty fascinating.

I don't believe in ghosts, but if I walked into a museum one day and saw that portrait of Vigo, I would quite possibly piss myself. Obviously... you are like the buzzing of the flies to him! Not a shred of actual, testable evidence in thousands of years. Nothing. Yep, pretty much the same with most cryptozoology. All we have are legends and terribly blurry and oftentimes flat out proven fake photographs.

I believe in them, and I refuse to let doubters sway my opinion. There's no hard evidence of a lot of things that people believe in. Sounds like something a ghost would say!

I've mentioned it before but the Tobin's spirit guide they released has a joke about that scene in it under the "Dream ghost" heading. It's something like the ghost at x location was found to be benign so we left it alone... Dr. Stanz continues to monitor the situation routinely... or something to that affect. if I remember I'll transcribe it when I get home

Yep, pretty much the same with most cryptozoology. All we have are legends and terribly blurry and oftentimes flat out proven fake photographs. Apart from Nessie of course, who was a Scottish war hero.

It's amazing how much more we have to learn about how the world works, even just how our minds perceive things. I don't believe in ghosts in the classical sense of them being spirits of the dead, but I think plenty of things exist in our world are more than they seem and quite often we just use primitive thoughts to explain them

Ok, some people here believe in ghosts, of those people would someone explain to me why, why, why do clothes have ghosts??
You don't have to explain the ghost. Just explain why Grandpa's ghost was wearing the overalls he always wore. How do his clothes have an afterlife?

It just reflect how he was when he died. That still doesn't explain Vader tho.

I'm giving you ghosts being 100% real, even though I don't believe it at all, to arrive at, why do clothes have an afterlife? I'll abandon clothes, and go with a story above here, why does the bicycle live on?

I think our mind's can do stuff we don't fully understand and our natural reticence to leave things unexplained pushes us towards the answer of "ghosts."
The idea of ghosts is predicated on so much human superstition/invention (the narcissistic idea of souls, an afterlife etc) with no relation to anything occurring in nature that it's far more likely something we invented rather than something people are observing.
Add into that the countless real world examples of things like eye witness accounts of recorded crimes being flat out filled with unknowingly fabricated details and well...I'm much more inclined to believe that ghosts are simply created by people as either a delusion in that our brain fills in the details of to create the perception of a ghost. The classic "I know what I saw" defense for ghosts doesn't really hold up for me because its all perception. People have historically seen the things they want to see rather things as they are.
That being said, if an advanced alien race exists and comes to Earth and is like "ey, you guys got ghosts on this planet too?" that'd be pretty rad.
