Because of course they will. Bandwagon jumping is easy, original thinking is hard.

I predict a topless Wonder Woman. Because that's what all the comic nerds want, right?

Public: Stop making your movies so damn dark and gritty!
DC: I think we need to make our movies darker and grittier.

They already have some M-rated Batman games, so it's not that far a stretch.

Legit every company hops on the what's successful bandwagon but let's play the shit on D.C. Game a little more.

They already have some M-rated Batman games, so it's not that far a stretch. Yeah, but as always, this sort of stuff works for Batman because it was a darker franchise to begin with. Most DC properties aren't so it doesn't work for them. Also, age ratings on games are ridiculous, they'd probably get a T rating for characters frowning at one-another.

Getting past the entire "We're edgy too! Please love us!" vibe, what they're not understanding is that the R-rated content in those Marvel movies isn't there just for the sake of being gratuitous. It serves a purpose to the overall story. I guarantee you DC doesn't get that, and it'd just be a bunch of gratuitous bullshit with no aim of actually improving the overall presentation.

Well, technically DC already did do an R Rated movie before Marvel: That said, if they wanted to make a movie of him, I could easily see a Lobo movie being rated R.

See, this is where DC kind of messed up, trying to do exactly what Marvel/Disney was doing, rather than just waiting them out, and THEN doing their superhero universe. If I were DC, I would have been providing an alternative, and making R Rated movies from their VERTIGO line. I mean, SANDMAN, PREACHER, TRANSMETROPOLITAN, FABLES, a relaunched HELLBLAZER or SWAMP THING....that would have been the way to go, rather than trying to jumpstart their own AVENGERS without the 4 year build of single movies that it took to get to that point.

Well, technically DC already did do an R Rated movie before Marvel: There were three Punisher movies, three Blade movies, and the R-rated Daredevil: Director's Cut before Watchmen. And Watchmen wasn't even the first R-rated DC movie. Road to Perdition and Constantine predated it.

Didn't A History of Violence come before Watchmen and was a DC comic?
Or am I getting it's publisher mixed up.

R Rated works fine if you have the right story and character, so I guess it really depends on what they do it with. It worked for Deadpool because it was designed to be an irreverent send-up of superhero movies. It worked OK with Logan with the character being who he was and his power set. I don't think it'd work well for any of the other Marvel movies that have come out.
DC would need to pick its property carefully, because while some of it's miniseries and such would work, I think it's mainine superhero movies wouldn't work so well with it.

I'd be more interested if DC/Warners announced they were developing some G-rated adaptions. That'd be something different.

What a biased survey. 71% of movie goers buying advance tickets to a movie that's been marketed (not in trailers, but in any interviews) as ultra violent want to see more ultra violent superhero movies? F***ing shocker

As someone pointed out when Deadpool was an R and did gangbuster numbers - marketing people will miss the point of this.
IT WASN'T SUCCESSFUL JUST BECAUSE IT WAS RATED R.

Deadpool was a hit for a variety of reasons. It wasn't just the R rating. It was true to the character, it was well written, and well acted.

Oh thank the Buddha, 'cause just the other day I was saying to myself "you know what Stargirl really needs? She needs to be in an R rated movie." All my dearms are coming true
