The hell kind of voice is Hardy going for? That'd be less distracting if he was using the freaking Bane voice.

not impressed.
I still think this is a dumb idea. Eddie Brock and Venom don't work alone without Spider-man. Venom Symbiote wouldn't have it's abilities without first combining with Spidey..
I hate how that one character pronounced Symbiote.

This looks really cool to me. I like Tom Hardy, and it seems like they have a much better grasp on Venom than Sam Raimi did. To be fair, Raimi makes no secret that he doesn't like Venom. Sony made him shoehorn him in. It seems like they're doing the same mistake as DC, going straight for the payoff and skipping the set-up. You establish Venom as a villain first, then turn him face and do a solo film.

Raimi has said for years he hated the character and had no interest. You can tell pretty easily what parts of SM3 Raimi cared about and which were shoehorned in by the studio.

Wait, isn't that the music from the Infinity War trailer?
I assume laziness rather than intentional.

First of all, I wanna fight whoever decided to go with sym-bye-oat, rather than sym-bee-oat. Ain't gonna be no GIF/JIFF shit here, I'll fight you.
It's got my curiousity for damn sure. I like Venoms voice. And watching Hardy act is just a god damn treat, I'm sure the dichotomy of being good/bad is what drew him to the role, it's gonna be fascinating seeing him work with that.
"Embrace your inner anti-hero" is stupid as f*** though. "Embrace your venom", cmon Sony. I feel it's gonna be a hit for sure, (at least upon opening) but the quality is gonna be what decides longevity/a franchise or not.

I'm going to agree with the studio over Raimi here. I mean who cares about The Sandman anyway? Venom is a cool character that could have made millions if done correctly, whereas Sandman is a typical cheesy B grade Spidey villain from the 60s. In fact I might have even fired Raimi all together or have him "voluntarily" leave the production.

And his heel-face turn was better done than Venom's.

In fact I might have even fired Raimi all together or have him "voluntarily" leave the production. I think it's a generational thing. Younger people tend to like Venom/Carnage because of their popularity in the 90s, but older fans see them as superificial, popular on their design and without much complexity. But the studio was kinda right, Venom was a huge drawing factor in SM3, and it made a shitload of money, but if Raimi and the studio disagreed so much, they should of split as opposed to the compromise which in turn compromised the film itself. Glad the split came with SM4 as Marvel Studios did Vulture way better than Raimi probably would have. As well as SM4s other "unique" ideas. And FTR, I like 616 Eddie Brock/Venom but much preferred USMs portrayal of him.

it's better to not judge CGI from trailers.

He needs to drive that truck and we set All They have to do is have a scene where Brock drives a semi through a building wall or a barricade of cars and have him turn into Venom in order to shield himself and we're good. He must honk the horn though.
