Watching Philip DeFranco's videos over this, it is becoming increasingly clear that for whatever reason they are specifically honing most of their abuse on Cody. That poor kid. CPS really needs to get in there and at the very least get him out of the situation. I would prefer they take all the kids away, but Cody is most certainly the one in most dire need to get out of that household. I would not be shocked if this situation ends tragically should no intervention occur.

From what I'm gathering, the biological Mom has come out and is claiming that they got custody of the kids from her via nefarious means and other things.

These two (the father and his current wife) seem scummy as hell. I see they are claiming it's all fake and acted now. I don't buy it, but I'm also not the ultimate judge. I'm just hoping they get a chance to have a judge look at this case. I don't want to see it swept under the table and would rather have something come of it.

(if they ARE fake as they claim, hopefully they learn and change up their scripts to make a better show, if they are real, the kids get placed in a better situation)

They are already blaming DeFranco for them receiving death threats, including claiming somebody tried to run the Mother and kids off the road. They also tried claiming that this is hurting the kids and they might have to no longer be able to make these videos and the videos bring them joy.

I don't agree with any parent treating their child like this but you do know this is a work, right? There are tons of people posting crazy videos to get as many views as possible. To do this they try to come up with a gimmick or things that will get a huge reaction. It's easier to get a negative reaction than a positive one. Negative reactions can spread like wildfire which only leads to more views. More views means more money. They get paid by YouTube according to the amount of traffic they get. YouTube money is big money and it might be the best kept secret in ways to make money right now. A friend of mine with a wife and kids quit his full time job to do a YouTube show full time because he was already making more money than his full time job messing around making videos part time. Controversy is good and as long as people are talking about them that means more people are watching and that means a lot more money. This family is cashing in big. Now they're saying it's staged to get the fire under control so they don't potentially kill their cash cow due to overwhelming negative reactions.

You are being worked. The public in general is. I'm not referring to the part about it being staged or not. I'm referring to them wanting the attention and the views to make money off of this. As I said in the first line of my original post, I don't agree with any parent treating their child like this. It never ceases to amaze me what people will do for money.

These people are just not right. I'll prank my kids and even jokingly mislead them on occasion (I never let them leave the conversation without letting them know I was joking and setting the record straight), but I never keep it going when they get upset. That shit just isn't funny. It's cruel. It's mean. It hurts the children.

I may say "awful" things about my children (who are 15 and 18) in front of them in jest, but I say it in a tone where even the densest person hears the air quotes around them (such as comments about how they smell and how teenagers are just the worst people ever) and everyone knows not to take me remotely seriously when I say them like that. Hell, my children often join in on the joking ("I wouldn't smell so bad if you actually taught me how to hygiene", "Yeah, all teenagers just really suck", and "I learned it by watching you!!!" were all responses I have gotten in the last month alone). What these people do are things I could never do to my children (then again, I actually LIKE my children).

You would think so. That's probably another reason for saying it's all staged. They don't want to ruin their setup with YouTube. Even by saying that the kids won't be able to make videos anymore when they love to make them is a bs excuse. They're saying watch for the sake of the kids now to the people concerned about the kids to keep that money coming in. Whatever it takes. The cash must continue to flow.

"I was scared to admit they're fake because our fans would leave."

Seconds later...

"We've always said they're fake, I've even used KEYWORDS and said they were for entertainment use only."

So what's the truth then?

There's even a video of the step-mother or whatever hysterically crying and screaming, "PUT THE CAMERA ON ME! THE REAL CAMERA! PUT THE CAMERA ON ME!"

Actually, at the moment controversy is bad. Very bad. Controversy over recent scandals on Youtube has led to many advertisers completely dropping Youtube and many Youtubers/Companies are now having to look for other means of compensation, be it Patreon or otherwise, because the money is rapidly drying up. Even indy wrestling companies are losing money big time atm because they're just on the right side of controversial to be added to the restricted viewing section with no ads, and if people are flagging these videos, I can only presume the same will be happening here.
