As a mom who has a rediculasly hard time reprimanding her kids I can't imagine doing this kind of thing for fun

I don't agree with any parent treating their child like this but you do know this is a work, right? There are tons of people posting crazy videos to get as many views as possible. To do this they try to come up with a gimmick or things that will get a huge reaction. It's easier to get a negative reaction than a positive one. Negative reactions can spread like wildfire which only leads to more views. More views means more money. They get paid by YouTube according to the amount of traffic they get. YouTube money is big money and it might be the best kept secret in ways to make money right now. A friend of mine with a wife and kids quit his full time job to do a YouTube show full time because he was already making more money than his full time job messing around making videos part time. Controversy is good and as long as people are talking about them that means more people are watching and that means a lot more money. This family is cashing in big. Now they're saying it's staged to get the fire under control so they don't potentially kill their cash cow due to overwhelming negative reactions. Actually, at the moment controversy is bad. Very bad. Controversy over recent scandals on Youtube has led to many advertisers completely dropping Youtube and many Youtubers/Companies are now having to look for other means of compensation, be it Patreon or otherwise, because the money is rapidly drying up. Even indy wrestling companies are losing money big time atm because they're just on the right side of controversial to be added to the restricted viewing section with no ads, and if people are flagging these videos, I can only presume the same will be happening here. That's the thing. Controversy is good as long as YouTubers can control it. The more people that talk about you, the more views you're going to get which means more money for you. Not everyone can get as lucky as Chewbacca mom. If the news picks up your videos a ton of people are checking them out. Then you get a ton of people who end up enjoying them, the haters, the curious, etc. The majority of these people have no idea this family is profiting like gangbusters off their views. It doesn't even matter if the original video was taken down. People will check out their other videos and the money will keep rolling in. They're actually bigger than ever right now because of this exposure. They wouldn't have gotten there without all this controversy but now they have to put a PR spin on it so they don't lose all this income due to the crappy way they got it. It's so much easier to drive your views up with something that will bring out the haters. Especially if they have no idea this is being done for money. If people knew how much they were profiting off this for doing this stuff, people would stop watching altogether. I honestly wish more people knew about this to stop people from earning money for abusing or even pretending to abuse their kids.

As a victim of abuse, they can shove the "It's all fake!" defense right up their stupid asses. I concur. As a victim of verbal, physical and emotional abuse by my father, which I will not detail, I have no stomach or tolerance for this kind of behavior. Joke or no, it's hurting the kids. At best, stop the behavior and spend the rest of your parental rights trying to atone. At worst, get these kids away from these cretins and into homes where they can be treated well and given the therapy they need to cope. I have not seen the videos, which the father should be grateful for. If I do and they are as bad as they sound... well, like I said, I have no tolerance. But when it comes to monsters, also, no mercy.

...okay, when an asshole like MisterMetokur thinks that you're a piece of shit, you're probably a piece of shit.
And holy hell, these people are some grade-A pieces of shit.

Even if this is fake, the underlying issue is that we're allowing really unremarkable things to become popular/newsworthy.

Two of the children are back with their biological mother, including the child who got the worst abuse.

Yeah, no. If you're screaming at/cussing out your child, intentionally injuring them, and/or driving them to threaten suicide, you are not being "funny". You're being a sad, pathetic piece of shit who should grow the f*** up.
Everyone who helped get these two kids out of that situation deserve some big kudos at the very least.

They are child abusers. Neither of them, nor anyone who defends them, should be anywhere near children.

They slammed one of their kids heads off a bookshelf.
Good luck staging that. If it IS staged, it's even more reason they should be out of there.
