After the TNA debacle, I doubt Corgan overpaid or bought it without knowing exactly what he's going to get out of it. He'll no doubt slap the NWA brand on a promotion built from scratch, booked by Corgan, for Corgan.

I want to see Billy Corgan to start acting like some of the old time NWA Presidents like Sam Muchnick and start writing off any promotion that isn't apart of the National Wrestling Alliance as nothing more than an outlaw promotion.

It's possible he makes something of this, but I'm not holding my breath. Corgan was that perfect storm of not being Dixie Carter and being completely, utterly f***ed over by Dixie Carter, with the crooked loan agreement that they wrote knowing it wasn't legally enforceable, and selling hms a position as company president only to bury him in emails and tell everyone not to listen to him anyway. People were pulling for him to win TNA so he could make a TNA without Dixie and because they screwed him over. But his own work isn't really that great and even the only good thing in TNA under his regime--the Broken Hardy stuff--came from letting Matt do his weirdo thing. I'm not expecting him to be able to make much of the name.

I'm glad that someone passionate and serious about wrestling buys a name we all know and is willing to build it back up. It seems like a smart deal to me if he got it for a good price.

I'd like it if they get a national TV deal and get higher ratings than Impact.

I'm not expecting him to be able to make much of the name. This is a guy who claims many of his ideas he's had were influenced by Vince flippin' Russo, that alone gives out zero confidence. And he also has a history of walking out when the going gets tough. His first promotion when it failed to get a TV deal he left hanging. It likely would've eventually happened with TNA as well and I give it a year before he does it with NWA.

First tna and now this? What's Corgan's obsession with dead brands?
The last chance NWA had of being important was during the Cabana-Pearce feud, and Bruce Tharpe f***ed it up, ugh The fake Sheik as champion.
Also them working with new Japan meant shit, the crappy NWA Indy shows attract less than a hundred people, if the NWA meant something they wouldn't need to sell, er I mean give the belt to Tim Storm.
Yes f*** Tim Storm, anyone of us posting in this thread is a more deserving champion than him and I'm not kidding. Legit a broom would draw more money than a roided up saggy tits 50 year old never was.

Legit a broom would draw more money than a roided up saggy tits 50 year old never was. Don't be too harsh on yourself...you're supple, not saggy. LOL And in all honesty, the writing was on the wall a few times. Not too far into his tenure, Tony Brookkyn (his other business partner), bailed on him along with a few other staff members and promotions. Also when Tharpe moved his law offices to Colorado, far away from the current NWA offices in Texas last year....I had a hunch something was up As much as I like Tharpe personally, it seemed like he was just using this as a vanity project, nothing more nothing less. I hope Billy can help turn it around...it can't get any worse, and this is coming from a true NWA fan.

Billy turned himself into a manager while in tna, he sucked, I hope he doesn't do that mistake again.

A few appearances in their top promotions will help, but he does need to NOT be more than the company pitch man and president. I wish him nothing but the best of luck in trying to resuscitate an already beaten dead horse...

I would laugh if the first thing Corgan does is make himself the champion.

Just bring back the pumpkins no? that actually more than likely happens next year, him and D'Arcy are cool again, him and James re-united last year and are cool again, him and jimmy never had any issues and jimmy has been back drumming for him for a while now...perhaps, do the reunion deal, get paid, use that to set up shop with this new NWA promotion. his songwriting royalties alone could probably fund it as he mostly played everything himself on the first few albums anyway.

The NWA is pretty much worthless right now so Billy Corgan probably got it on the cheap

Hopefully the first thing he does is get rid of this friggin' champions buying their spot garbage. It's time for them to start actually booking for what can be right for the NWA, not for whoever's check clears.

It's in better hands with Corgan than with Tharpe.
But I think his philosophy of 10 years ago (which was saying "no" to anyone in wrestling asking for him to invest his money in a promotion) was probably the best philosophy. Time will tell. He could make a go of this.

Billy Corgan has a shit ton of money to spend and really wants to be involved in pro wrestling. I would probably do the same thing honestly.
