unless they TOTALLY went over the top with the censor button, and made then ironically funny but releasing them just for those versions are a waste of time and energy, have it as extras

This seems like a waste of time, effort, and money.

I see no reason why giving people extra options for families (rather than replacing the originals which would be ethically dubious) is a bad thing. Plus, as shown by the Funky Pete scene above, it's possible for bowlderised versions to be 100x funnier than otherwise standard plethoras of regular swear words.
But I can see why Rogen's worried, given that liberal use of swearing and innuendo is literally all he has to offer.

The profanity will probaly be muted (Or Benoited as whatever audio is muted by WWE ON Botchamania videos, Maffew of Botchamainia inserts the word "Benoit" in refrence to WWE's unpersoning of Benoit 10 years ago) And Sony putting out at least in the digital marketplace won't be the first time that "Clean versions" of films were offered on a home medium as back in the 1990's New Line released a edited for Family viewing tape of "The mask" and Paramount put out edited for content VHS versions of "Andre" (1994 movie about the seal) and "Beautician and the beast"

I read that as "Sorry to offer clean versions of movies".

So, it would be like World Of Final Fantasy in which they use "honk" to replace any bad word? What the honk!?

I never saw it, but from what the ads showed it looked like a typical family movie.

Man, did every 90s sketch show have an "edited for TV" sketch?

I would genuinely like to see a clean version of Sausage Party where they all play checkers at the end or something.

This seems like a waste of time, effort, and money. From the people who brought you the idea of an Aunt May solo movie. Comes this garbage idea.

I remember years ago seeing a story on Nightline or something about a guy who was self editing movies and sharing them with his friends and family because of their religious beliefs. Word got out obviously, and everybody sued this guy. Even Spielberg sent him a letter saying it's not his place to change his work. So I figured the same would happen here.

It's almost like upsetting filmmakers by editing their works solely for increased profit was a bad idea.

TV-Edited movies can be so bizarre, this could lead to some hilarious scenes.

if you're going to do this wouldn't it be more economical to just include the "kiddie version" as an extra feature on the dvd/blu-ray?
