Comics writer Jeff Parker had a great line on Twitter: "James Cameron thought it was ok to have an actor use the word Unobtanium"

I don't agree. I think all of the characters you mentioned, in one way or another, broke through a boundary. They don't need to be perfect to have a positive impact. And there's nothing wrong with "furry aliens". Avatar was kinda meh, but it wasn't the garbage fire people make it out to be. I'm not even that big a fan of the movie, but I'm so tired of those jokes. I'm not even saying they've got to be perfect. I think there really needs to be a wider perspective on the impact of these movies. White women have always been allowed to play a variety of roles as compared to say, black women. So ultimately, while I do like Wonder Woman and most of those other movies (Whedon can kick rocks), I'm not really impressed with them for a variety of reasons.

I slept on this and when I woke up, I still think James Cameron is a cranky grandpa who should get in his submarine and go chase the bar.

I think if they were going for looks on Wonder Woman, they'd have picked someone with a larger chest.

Comics writer Jeff Parker had a great line on Twitter: "James Cameron thought it was ok to have an actor use the word Unobtanium" I don't know if I've ever rolled my eyes harder in a movie theater than when the main character of Avatar went on his final rant about "their dead world." Ugh. This thread has served to remind me of how much I hate that movie. Thinking about that movie has me more upset than his comments.

Then there was the time he wanted to give PG-13 goers "chubbies" with his cgi created female. *eyeroll*

Doesn't James Cameron have a reputation for being a jerk to the women in his life, too? Or am I thinking about someone else?
If that's the case, maybe those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

No movie or character means anything for women, or men, in terms of social progress.

Does he realize that Linda Hamilton and Sigourney Weaver weren't exactly average in the looks department either?

If that's the case, maybe those that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Apparently he's very notorious for treating the actors on set like trash. I think it's more with people he knows he can get away with it though. I never heard him yelling at someone like Arnold, Jamie, Weaver, or even Lang. I imagine they would be quick to back him off especially Arnold.
