That's right, it's Monday again and that means ONLY one thing before the other ONE thing... We have 16 participants remaining, and they will be competing in these second round matches...
Abbey Laith vs. Rachel Evers Princesa Sugehit vs. Mercedes Martinez Nicole Savoy vs. Candice LeRae Mia Yim vs. Shayna Baszler Kairi Sane vs. Bianca Belair Dakota Kai vs. Rhea Ripley Serena Deeb vs. Piper Niven Lacey Evans vs. Toni Storm
This will then take us to quarter finals...
Quarter Final A: Winner of Laith/Evers vs. Winner of Sugehit/Martinez Quarter Final B: Winner of Savoy/LeRae vs. Winner of Yim/Baszler Quarter Final C: Winner of Sane/Belair vs. Winner of Kai/Ripley Quarter Final D: Winner of Deeb/Niven vs. Winner of Evans/Storm
And finally, our semi finals...
Quarter Final A Winner vs. Quarter Final B Winner Quarter Final C Winner vs. Quarter Final D Winner
It's sure to be a fine selection of women's wrestling competition, and these will take us right up to our two finalists, who will compete for ultimate victory live in Las Vegas on September 12.
All that, FROM TODAY at 9am Eastern US Time (local times may differ)! As always, no spoilers of match results until air time.

Not a surprise at all to see them putting Evans with Storm and Belair with Sane; if you want to give your almost-ready developmental prospects a showcase and a chance to grow a little bit in a match with a pro, thosew would be the match-ups to do it.

I remember hearing that one of the competitors pulls out a seriously impressive move in this round, and the match quality jumps quite a bit. Looking forward to all of it.

Well, Laith damn near Sin Cara'd herself on that suicide dive, big clip on the ropes on the way through.

Much better showing from Evers here against Laith.

Laith/Evers was essentially two women beating the heck out of each other. The double kick spot was tremendous.

Deeb/Niven was better than, really, it had any right to be. Not that the talent wasn't good, just didn't expect that kind of match from either one of them.

I have to say, commentary's been A LOT better so far. These must have been the matches that were re-recorded and it shows which (whilst not great for the quality of JR and Lita in general) makes things seem more important.

Holy f***, Bianca Belair... I haven't seen anyone whip their hair like this outside of a Lipsync For Your Life battle.

If this was a match to prove if Bianca can step up with a more talented competitor then she's passing for me so far.

Much better showing from Evers here against Laith. Ellerling is a really good wrestler, it's just that she was paired up with the MYC equivalent of HoHo Lun in round one.

Episode 5 thoughts:
Evers with an RKO outta nowhere?! Evers/Laith feels more like just a bunch of moves than an actual match, if that makes sense. Deeb/Niven was a solid David/Goliath-style match. Oh no! Bianca Belair is the "best pure athlete" in the tournament. Isn't that a kiss of death from commentary? Bianca was impressive in this one, though. Kairi is awesome. She plays face in peril so well, you forget she's one of the favorites to win the whole thing. Then she gets that big comeback and you remember!

Again, Baszler with that DDP-esque sixth sense of countering things into the Rear Naked Choke. This time, a 450 Splash.
Oh, right... Here's where we get the duelling Horsewomen tease... I wonder how the fanbase becoming sick of Bayley en masse seemingly overnight will effect that going forward.

'Oh, Pele'
No, Lita, it goes
'THE PELE! THE PELE! THE PELE!'

Kai wins it with the old Alberto Del Rio Destiny Stomp... Still as contrived as ever.

I'd like to see Piper Nevin given a shot.... I think she's better in the ring than Nia Jax (and I like Nia Jax).

The more I think about the binge watch stuff, I think WWE would take a better approach with having two episodes a week instead of four.
I feel like 4, especially this week with the 2nd round, quarters and semis on the same day seems REALLY overwhelming.
