phew....finally complete with my MYC binge. Episode 8 was a solid one. * Bazler VS Martinez was really good and proved that Shayna is capable of back and forth wrestling matches as opposed to quick squashes. Great storytelling here here with the bully finally meeting her match and having no choice but to show respect for the mentor before and after the match. Bazler is going to be the perfect opponent for Sane as they could not be any more different from one another. But...seriously though, FLOWERS from Triple H? Ugh, the image of Bazler holding flowers kind of hurt her aura. She should have stayed in character and ripped them apart * Yep, as I would have guessed Sane VS Storm did not disappoint and was my favorite match of the tourney so far. These two went STIFF against each other and the submission on Sane looked legit gut wrenching. Great selling by both girls on thier respective body parts and Sane executed her best elbow yet. Great match. Ok...flowers for Kairi, sure, seems a bit more fitting. Anyway the pose-off between her and Bazler at the end was great. It's going to be a great match next week. Can't wait! My prediction: The bell rings and Asuka takes out one of the competitors like Akuma does in Street Fighter 2 and she battles the sole surviving contestant in front of the other contestant's limp dead body.

Episode 7 thoughts: * Martinez VS Laith was good though a bit underwhelming considering the talent involved. Both were really good but I think Laith should have kept her underdog streak running. That said Martinez VS Bazler should be a good prison-style brawl. * Bazler VS LaRae was every bit the massacre I imagined it to be. It was a quick match that saw Candace ger her licks in but she was ultimately killed off in merciless fashion. All parties (including Gargano) played their parts very well. Bazler is an extraordinary heel and I really want to see her get her comeuppance. * Storm VS Niven was match of the night for me (so far). The chain wrestling exchange and cheesy taunts were SNK levels of showboating. I loved it. Niven continues to show so much diversity and Storm is just plan awesome. * Kai VS Sane was good but it was also a bit underwhelming considering the talent involved. Kai's ultimate strength is her cute underdog appeal which is only eclipsed by the person she faced off against which didn't bode well for her. It felt like a formality that Sane was going to win and the match felt that way as well. But still, great effort and Kai could be what the WWE wanted in Bayley (assuming they also don't screw her up). About to watch the semifinals and I can already sense Storm VS Sane being the best match of the tourney thus far. I feel when Bayley returns, the fans go crazy for her and hardly remember her bad booking. Look at how bad Seth was booked, then after he came back, he was the biggest babyface in the room. Kairi will be just fine.

She definitely minces her words and she needs to cut back on the facial expressions but you can't deny that she's very confident. She's charismatic enough where she doesn't have to cut promos like Alexa Bliss.

She's not anywhere near bad. She needs improving but she's gets herself over how she needs to.
Also, guys...she's 21 years old. It's not like she can't improve this stuff with time and she's got plenty of it. She's allowed to flub.

So many incredible women in this tourney, would love to see it as a yearly thing with other girls getting a shot at it (favorites of mine like Lufisto, Marcela, Hikaru Shida and Vanessa Kraven would be my picks for another tourney). I liked all the matches, though feel sad Jazzy didnt make it through. Kairi is awesome, there just cant be anyway for WWE to misuse her, she is the perfect babyface!

I was saying that the most surreal thing about women's wrestling right now is that you could build an entire MWC with women not in this tournament. A few of them probably would have been on if not for the tournament Shine was holding the same day as the first round tapings.

It didn't exactly translate as well as it could have but the announcers have repeatedly mentioned that she 'marches to the beat of a different drum'.

I watched the rest of the Mae Young Classic. Abbey Laith VS Rachel Evers was decent. Evers showed more here than her match against Marti Belle in the 1st round. Serena Deeb VS Piper Niven was decent. Mercedes Martinez VS Princesa Sugehit was my 2nd least favorite match of the 2nd Round. Kairi Sane VS Bianca Belair was the best match of this episode. Bianca impressed me a lot. Toni Storm VS Lacey Evans was a pretty good match. Mia Yim VS Shayna Baszler was not that good. I'm still not impressed with Baszler. Yim went from the best match of Round 1 to the worst match of Round 2. Dakota Kai VS Rhea Ripley was OK. Candice LeRae VS Nicole Savoy was OK. Abbey Laith VS Mercedes Martinez was pretty good, but a little long. Candice LeRae VS Shayna Baszler was Baszler's best showing so far, but very short. Piper Niven VS Toni Storm was the best match so far in the QuarterFinals. Dakota Kai VS Kairi Sane was another awesome match, but I might have liked Nivens VS Storms a little more. Mercedes Martinez VS Shayna Baszler was a decent match and replaces her last match as Baszler's best performance. Kairi Sane VS Toni Storm was another amazing match. Overall, a lot of great matches in the Mae Young Classic. The finals should be good.
Here are the facts for the Mae Young Classic: - Abbey Laith VS Rachel Evers was both Laith & Evers’ 1st Mae Young Classic opener & 2nd match overall, Laith was the 1st wrestler to compete in both a Mae Young Classic main event & opener, & was the 1st match to feature 2 wrestlers that have competed in NXT - Serena Deeb VS Piper Niven was both wrestlers’ 2nd Mae Young Classic match Mercedes Martinez VS Princesa Sugehit was both wrestlers’ 2nd Mae Young Classic match - Kairi Sane VS Bianca Belair was Belair’s 1st Mae Young Classic main event & Sane’s 2nd main event, making her the 1st Mae Young Classic participant to compete in 2 main events, & both wrestlers’ 2nd match overall - Toni Storm VS Lacey Evans was Storm’s 2nd Mae Young Classic opener & Evans’ 1st opener, & both wrestlers’ 2nd match overall - Mia Yim VS Shayna Baszler was both wrestlers’ 2nd match in the Mae Young Classic - Dakota Kai VS Rhea Ripley was both wrestlers’ 2nd match in the Mae Young Classic - Candice LeRae VS Nicole Savoy was both wrestlers’ 1st Mae Young Classic main event & LeRae was the 2nd participant to compete in both an opening match & main event, & both wrestlers’ 2nd match overall - Episode 7 of the Mae Young Classic was the 200th Show on TV & PPV in WWE & NXT in 2017 - Mercedes Martinez VS Abbey Laith was both wrestlers’ 2nd Mae Young Classic opener & 3rd match overall - Candice LeRae VS Shayna Baszler was both wrestlers’ 3rd Mae Young Classic match - Toni Storm VS Piper Niven was both wrestlers’ 3rd Mae Young Classic match - Kairi Sane VS Dakota Kai was Kai’s 1st Mae Young Classic main event & Sane’s 3rd main event overall, making her the only wrestler to compete in only main events in the Mae Young Classic, & both wrestlers’ 3rd match overall - Mercedes Martinez VS Shayna Baszler was Martinez’ 3rd Mae Young Classic opener & Baszler’s 1st opener, & both wrestlers’ 4th match - Kairi Sane VS Toni Storm was Storm’s 1st Mae Young Classic main event & she was the 3rd participant to compete in both an opener & main event, & was Sane’s 4th main event, making her the only wrestler to compete in only main events

Only watched the first episode of Round 2 but holy shit do we have a match quality improvement by the bucketload from Round One. Not surprising, but it was really well done.
All Four Matches delivered, Bianca Belair is a star in the making, Piper Niven is amazing and I honestly don't give a shit what anyone says especially if it's in petty regards to her weight, and Evers got that Marti Belle stink off her and had a great match with Laith
Will catch the rest after RAW!

Kairi is awesome, there just cant be anyway for WWE to misuse her, she is the perfect babyface! Just give it a couple years. She'll be fine in NXT (and probably even presented as the top woman in the division), but once she hits the main roster...

I get why people wouldn't like Baszler (as she's seen as basically Proto-Rousey, and already in her late 30s), but I do like the way they've presented her in this tournament.

Watching Episode 5 now.
I enjoyed Laith vs Evers a lot. Evers is a nice powerhouse and I think could be a star. Laith is a great underdog.
Serena Deeb vs Piper Niven was really fun. Good mix of styles and Niven is awesome and she's gorgeous. I hope she's given a fair shot if she wants it. Serena Deeb would be a great addition to Smackdown Live, especially if she's in a role to help build talent and it's a great redemption story, plus the Spear is such a death move that her starting a surprising win streak for her as well.

Bianca Belair looks awesome against Kairi. Those hair whips were vicious! This girl is going to be a star with time. That 450!!
Dakota Kai's Tree of Woe stomp looked better in one time than any of the dozens of times that ADR did it in his last run.
I really enjoy Abbey Laith's facial expressions too. I think that's her best asset, really sells the situation that she's in whether positive or negative or pain.

I imagine Baszlor turned some heads after her first round match. Especially her matches with Yim and Martinez. And the story she told with LaRae was nice too
Rooting for Kairi to win it all though.
