Every time I see this movie, it gets better each time.
I genuinely can't imagine anyone but Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. He is so damn good as this character. Cap is genuinely one of the few characters I would be gutted to see die in Infinity War if they decide to go through with it.
Hugo Weaving and Tommy Lee Jones chewing scenery in the same movie is always a delight to watch as well.
Aside from the Avengers theme, it's probably got the most memorable 'hero theme' of all the MCU movies. No coincidence that Alan Silvestri had a hand in making both. Glad to see him coming back for Infinity War.

First Avenger is my favourite Phase One movie. Casting was superb in every role, with everybody playing their roles perfectly, and the music is great. My only criticism is I would've loved to see more of Cap and the Howling Commandos than just the montage. Any other franchise and they probably could've gotten two movies before the setting switched to the modern day.

The Cap trilogy is one of my favorite superhero movie trilogies. And yeah, First Avenger is definally a gem of a movie. The exchange between Steve and Peggy right when he's about to crash always gets to me. Very sad And. "I had a date"

Might be alone in thinking that this was far and away the weakest film in the MCU. The retcon of Cap as a USO performer was awful, and I felt like they could have done a much better job of making HYDRA a threat sans magical space age technology. Fantastic concept, weak execution.

This film does have a memorable hero theme for Cap... though in this case, I'm talking about the Star-Spangled Man song that plays during the montage of Cap's time as a USO mascot.

One of the few times the sequels to a superhero film gets better with every movie which is pretty rare. Especially in the superhero genre

I have been a Cap fan since the late 70s. And my fandom of Cap is a major reason why I choose to join the Army right out of high school.
By the time this film had come out I had suffered thru both of the 70s TV films. And then paid $70 for that DTV 90s Cap movie. So going in I was trying to keep my hopes down.
Saw it two times opening night. First time was in 3d with my lady,my cousin and her family. Then as soon as it was over I bought a ticket to a 2d showing and watched it again.

I love that every film in the series has a different tone. First one does the sci-fi historical, second one is the Metal Gear Solid 2 movie we never got, and third is a full on Avengers crossover. And yet despite the disparities they've got the most consistent quality of basically any superhero franchise.

First Avenger is my third favorite in the trilogy, and on its own I think it's a relentlessly entertaining film and a great introduction to Steve's character. That's how good the Cap series is.

I grew up a huge Iron Man fan and rarely ever touched Cap comics. Cinematically though, Cap is my favorite Marvel hero, hands down. Loved First Avenger.

I always felt Cap's actual adventures during WWII had so much untapped potential that Marvel never seems to want to really capitalize on. When they announced this movie I figured maybe the first 20 minutes would take place during the war and the rest would be about him waking up in the modern world. When they announced the whole movie would be taking place before he was frozen I was very interested.
And the movie didn't disappoint. Still one of my favorite MCU films. It didn't have the universe changing consequences that the other two Cap movies had, but it was just fun and entertaining and well cast.

One of my favorite movies, all-time. I was glad my dad got to see it before he passed on.
