It’s Mania, so I’m certainly gonna watch, but those two matches do absolutely nothing for me. I wonder if they’re gonna add a career vs. career stip to Cena/Undertaker. That’s kinda the only thing that would make sense from a kayfabe perspective. Otherwise, it’s pretty pointless. That would make the outcome more predictable though. The best bet is to bill it as Taker's retirement match. This way everyone knows going in this is it, but they don't know whether he'll win or lose.

I wouldn’t quantify Cena as a “superior wrestler” especially over Reigns. 2.5 years is a long time and from what we have seen since those matches he hasn’t looked great Sure he gets a pass against Shane if you want to give him that but there’s no pass for last year unless you want to lean on the hip issue I’m not “burying” his ability I’m just saying he’s washed as you would expect a man near 50 to be after wrestling 30 years. "Leaning on the hip issue" is exactly what should be done. It was clearly a major issue, that's why he had it replaced immediately afterwards. But in saying that this is the not first thing he’s gotten worked on after Mania. Every year he gets something done so it wouldn’t be just as easy to say his he physically can’t do it ?

Cena vs. Taker should have had happened at WrestleMania XXX. That timing was just right.

Yea that would make sense if they do career vs career but it will be tricky how you shape the match because it seems Cena would have to issue that challenge considering Undertakers exit last year

Well, at least Reigns obliterating Lesnar will be enjoyable. Only if it means Brock is actually done. Otherwise, it doesn't mean a hill of shit.

Man I do not care about Lesnar/Reigns at all, lol. I just want them to get this shit out of their system so we can move the f*** on and stop having this shit clouding every goddamn Wrestlemania season. Just do it already and let’s see where this goes.
But Cena/Taker is such a disappointment to me. This would have been great in 2010 with streak Taker and Super Cena in full force. But part time jobber to main eventers Cena and a broken down Taker? Pass. He also had one hell of a send off last year, nearly perfect. Bring him back for another match just f***ing ruins it, imo.

Cena/Taker is them just admitting they’ve done a real poor job of building anyone up the past 12 months, isn’t it?

The only way Cena/Taker would be worth it is if it finally leads to a Cena heel turn. Brock broke the Streak and Reigns took away the Deadman's aura, so at this point being the guy to retire him doesn't mean all that much.

two biggest matches on the card feature three Part timers. Not to mention yearly triple h, Shane and Randy orton matches, it's going to be the same old guys going through the motions. I don't see nakamura vs styles happening as many others do, I think nakamura will be in the battle royal while styles against strowman would be my guess.

Cena vs Taker in a match where neither should really lose to the other...makes sense..

I'm actually looking forward to Lesnar/Reigns as I liked their WM31 encounter, but Cena vs. a well-past-his-prime-Undertaker, pass.

Lesnar/Reigns should be good because both are at their best when they could just hit someone and both are going to def hit each other good I want Cena/Taker to be good but I just can't shake the feeling it won't be Nakamura/Styles better be the "work rate" match for this show

Taker will likely go out a winner. Cena's lost a lot more on PPV lately, plus Cena ain't finished by a longshot, so why give him the W?

Cena/Taker is them just admitting they’ve done a real poor job of building anyone up the past 12 months, isn’t it? Especially Reigns, as this basically makes his whole "MY YARD NOW" shtick completely washed as Taker's coming right back and acting like he didn't do shit. The only way this works is if Taker comes back as The American Badass. The Deadman Gimmick died at Mania last year.

These matches do nothing for me but to act like this is out of the ordinary in any way is misguided. Wrestlemania has never been about appealing to wrestling fans. The purpose has always been to attract the most interest from casual fans.
The first two installments had Mr T involved with a main event. Lawrence Taylor stood tall at the end of 11. In the year 2000, arguably the best year for creative in the history of WWE, a McMahon was in every corner.
Every year the Mania matches get leaked and every year people post about how the WWE’s lack of ability to “create stars” will catch up with them. It has yet to happen.
I think about all my friends in High School (graduated in 2011) who used to watch and will get really excited to hear Cena and Taker will square off at Wrestlemania. Especially if it is career vs career, as someone suggested in this thread. Those are the people WWE books Wrestlemania for. It’s not us, the core fan base, and it never has been.
