This is just my opinion mind you so please don't attack me, but I wouldn't trust Meltzer on this. If she was really finished, I'd like to think she would've told her fans via social media thank you or something to prepare us for the farewell, if there is one, but this to me indicates Paige won't retire quietly. I guess the question is, why not trust Meltzer on an issue such as this? He has a pretty good record talking about the medical stuff with wrestlers. Probably because everyone under the sun said she was done last time, and yet she came back. So forgive me for probably being too skeptical, but if they were all wrong, and this is Meltzer included, last time, why should I believe him now?

They just said she was injured and had no idea when she'd be back what with all the problems she was going through.

"everyone under the sun" said she was done in WWE because of her behavior, not because she couldn't perform anymore This is WWE saying she can't wrestle no more and comparing it to someone like Edge who they also told to hang it up This isn't Meltzer giving his own spin on a WWE story, this is him confirming what has been reported from a good amount of reliable sources. All of these reliable sources can't be wrong sadly

Also the bigger factor being what seemed to be a downward spiral of her professional and personal life. She was injured but people were saying she was done in WWE because of her behavior not because they didn't think she could come back

As soon as I saw Meltzer confirm it, I knew that's where this thread was headed.

Wouldn't you like a chance to hear her heartfelt thoughts to the fans? As sad as they are, those retirement promos are good because these are individuals speaking from the heart as tough as it is in that moment and reassuring the people that they will be fine in the long run

Because I wanna still see her wrestle! I don't think she's as badly hurt as the reports say otherwise they would've at least cited a darn med source like saying she has a bad case of insert whatever making it too dangerous for physical competition. Sure I don't wanna see her get hurt or anything, but they didn't give me enough proof to buy in that she's as badly hurt as their stating is all. That's all I'm trying to say. I don't want her to have a bad quality of life, but I don't want to feel like I was cheated out of seeing her wrestle again in hindsight.

The thing is you keep asking for proof when it is right in front of you. Her injuries to her neck which is surgically repaired and the physical disability she has is something everyone has known about for a while. She wasn't going to be wrestling 15 years from now regardless and was on a short leash but sadly due to circumstances her in ring career in WWE at least is over. If i'm not mistaken the OP states why they are retiring her but if you're looking for some explanation about people who wrestle with her disability and injuries, you're not going to find it here. I don't know what more proof you want when we know her physical disabilities and we saw the spot and the result that ultimately ended her career.

I don't get it.
Paige has already had multiple injuries related to her wrestling career and now we get these comments from multiple sources related to her. Given the type of injuries she's had in the past and now this it's best to have her retire otherwise the next time she gets injured it could be worse. This isn't a case of her not having injuries, it's happened multiple times.

Correct This isn't something like WWE saying well the next injury you will kill you 100% guaranteed, this is listen the next injury could be far worse and with your conditions now we can't allow you to wrestle anymore. Would Paige have liked to wrestle maybe 5 more years and retire on her own merits like AJ Lee, sure but that's not always the case Sheamus is another one to keep an eye on because of his physical disability and while it isn't as severe as Paige and Edge, it can get there and i'm sure he wants a great quality of life with him only being 40 years old I believe

https://www.instagram.com/p/BLw8jj8Auzq Severe scoliosis. Herniated disc in her neck. Three screws holding her neck together. Told by same doctor who "worked a miracle" on her not to return. Lost all control of her limbs as a result of a routine bump. I'm sorry, it sucks for us fans if she has to retire, but that's more than enough evidence that Paige shouldn't be putting further punishment on a part of her body that isn't currently capable of taking it, and probably never will never again be able to take it.

The post above describing how damaged Paige is? That's the reality of the situation. Yeah, she could still be wrestling and all but honestly if one simple botch like that happened to her then it's best for her to quit. She's already in a dangerous spot right now and furthermore look at the other women in the ring with her. If Sasha of all people did that to her and she was taken out like that? Just imagine how the rest feel having to work with her. It's not something that they need to take on. And Sheamus yeah, I'm giving him until the end of next year's WM at most. Hell if I were WWE I'd have Cesaro breakup the team, retire Sheamus and setup Cesaro's push but that's just me.

It's easy to forget that while wrestlers are presented as almost superhuman, the reality is they're just regular human beings with all the frailties that come with it, which makes it harder to let go once things like this happen.

Hell, I wouldn't even break them up as I would keep Sheamus around as his manager since I still think Cesaro does much better working with someone than he does on his own and they've built up a lot of chemistry to where Sheamus can be his manager. Sure his bumps would be kept to a minimum for sure but it be cool for them to stick together However, there is the other option of having Cesaro retire Sheamus in kayfabe like how they had Sheamus do to Noble(as far as in ring competitor is concerned). It would make Cesaro look like a killer that's for sure

It's sucks that Paige has to retire on the same week as Mark Henry, despite a 20+ year gap in age, and just missing out on that Women's Royal Rumble match as well. But it's just better than the potential (and inevitable) alternatives.
