Heineken is by far the nicest beer you will taste.

I can drink a beer or two, but it's not something I like drinking regularly, and I hate trying to get drunk off it.
I stick to Rum/coke AKA the most inoffensive and all-purpose alcoholic beverage on the planet.

What brand did you drink? I can only stomach a few brands of beer. Off the top of my head Stella, Viking, and Gull. The latter two I have only found in Iceland so far. Go figure. The latter two I also found really nice when I went to Reykjavik, had a pint of Gull with my curry soup bread bowl at Svarta Kaffi. I had Gull with my fish and chips at a seafood place over by the docks, and it was all amazing.

I'm a huge fan of Karbach, a Texas brewer. Specifically, their lemon and ginger variety

My cravings for booze vary with the seasons. Some times of the year I'll go weeks without it, other times I can't wait to get home to have a glass of red wine with dinner. Beer I do sometimes get in the mood for, but I tend to keep it a once/twice a week deal (the calories are brutal and I count every one). I bounce between Stone, Ballast Point, and Bottle Logic when I feel like a "fun" beer, but IPAs invariably rule my taste buds. That being said... My guilty pleasure. Great for portion control and pacing, for obvious reasons. Ballast point makes some damn excellent beer they had a red velvet cake one friggin amazing

I'm currently attempting to give up drinking for good, but my past favorite was Deschutes' Chainbreaker, a White IPA that they no longer produce.

I'll catch flack for saying it, but beer is gross. It's liquefied rotted grains. No it isnt. beer is yeast shit. Basically fermentable sugars are added to water, cooked and then yeast is allowed to eat whatever fermentable sugars can be yeilded from the wort. The biproduct of fermentation (yeast eating sugar) is carbon dioxide and alcohol. all healthy and alive

Heineken is by far the nicest beer you will taste. Yeah, Heinekens first major flaw is in its bottling. Green bottles provide minimal protection from UV light. Skunking can occur in green bottles within minutes. Corona is in a clear bottle so it begins skunking the second it hits UV light. Lime is added to Corona to cover up the skunked taste and aroma. the chemical reaction creates a substance called mercaptan. The same chemical emitted highly concentrated from skunks.

Outside of local brews: tried one in Memphis called Ghost River I really liked. Also Flying Saucer, my favorite name brand is currently Blue Moon. Maybe it's the oranges. Don't judge me. Beer is an acquired taste, and as has been mentioned, there are different tastes to try No one HAS to get smashed to like beer, but sitting around with some friends, havin wings or pizza while watchin a fight or ballgame f***in rules Blue Moon isnt terrible but you can probably find a better Belgian Witbeir whetever it is you live. Blue Moon uses oats for a more pronounced creaminess whereas a REAL Wit is a wheat beer. The orange and coriander come through much better in a drier version of tge style.

Beer smells super gross, so I don't even want to imagine what it tastes like. Personally, if I were a drinker I'd probably drink the fruity stuff. Not cause they are "girly", cause I like fruity flavours.

I have never cared for beer, but I can at least deal with more than one sip, so, more than I can say for gin and tonic. I don't drink a lot, but when I do, I like something I can sip at. Honeyed whiskey or rum, I like. Beer smells super gross, so I don't even want to imagine what it tastes like. Personally, if I were a drinker I'd probably drink the fruity stuff. Not cause they are "girly", cause I like fruity flavours. You might gravitate towards cranberry drinks. There's a reason it is used for a lot of mixed drinks, it doesn't seem to get drowned out by the taste of alcohol like a lot of flavors do.

Tried it numerous times and apart from Corona or Desperados I find them all to be pretty grim in taste.
Now Cider I can happily drink til the cows come home.

I don't get the appeal of alcohol in general...I often think that alcohol should be outlawed. People like the taste and and the feeling it can provide, whether as a social lubricant or just something to take the edge off. As for outlawing things you don't like...well, just remember how that last thread on that went. So you've pretty much admitted what I've thought for years...people only drink for the drug effects of alcohol. Thanks for proving my point I guess. I don't get the appeal of alcohol in general...I often think that alcohol should be outlawed. And that would leave me without a job and 99% of my social life, so no thanks. Why do you need alcohol for a social life? Outside of local brews: tried one in Memphis called Ghost River I really liked. Also Flying Saucer, my favorite name brand is currently Blue Moon. The misrepresented opinion of one person does not prove a point. They clearly mentioned liking the taste as being a factor, among others.

So you've pretty much admitted what I've thought for years...people only drink for the drug effects of alcohol. Thanks for proving my point I guess. By that rationale people should be getting wasted every time they drink alcohol. They don't. I drink alcohol almost exclusively because a particular wine or cider pairs well with a particular meal. If a non-alcoholic beverage similarly enhances a different meal, I'll pick accordingly. The "drug effects" are of no consideration to me, and I've only been drunk once this decade.
