Not about to give ABC props when Roseanne has been saying racist shit for years, yet they brought her back anyway and allowed her to throw jabs at shows that appeared on their network. Also, blaming Ambien for racist tweets is phenomenal lol The makers of Ambien have responded. When you are getting trolled by big pharma on twitter and the masses are cheering... you know you screwed the pooch... which I may have once done when I was on Ambien

ABC knew she was insane. From everything to her multiple personalities. Insane rants, Truther BS and past racial or just insensitive remarks she's a loose cannon. ABC was just going to ride her and hope she stayed lucid long enough to make some money off her. And in a way, ABC screwed itself by depending so much on said loose cannon, and well, living in the past. As I said, between this and next season, quite a few of their hit shows ended/will end, including one of the most iconic 2010s sitcoms which will have its last season next fall. They have stuffed other underrated shows with followings on Friday Death Night for Fall '18. What'll they have left after this? (Note: I am not nor ever really was a big Roseanne fan. My family and friends watched it, and that's it pretty much. Just FYI)

Sadly, back to the drawing board = something else we can remake. All right, the perfect time to pitch my remake of Automan. How about....Mrs. Belvedere? Grown Pains? (The Seavers return to deal with loss and love, Kirk Cameron will be coming back, what can possibly go wrong?) Who's the Bossier? Step by Stepper? Webster...er? Chachi Mourns Joanie?

I don’t know what’s worse...the article I read about how she’s basically being punished because we’re too PC or the other clowns hoping that Disney finishes the Fox deal so they can cancel Tim Allen again too because of this. 1) Saying racist shit like she said is not ok. It has nothing to do with being PC. It has everything to do with not being a piece of garbage human being. 2) I like Tim Allen and I like Last Man Standing. Wishing people jobless because you don’t agree with their personal beliefs is a shit move too. Last I checked he didn’t say anything as horribly racist as Roseanne. I don't get people wanting a show cancelled. I never watched Last Man Standing and have no interest in doing so, but plenty of people watched the show so it deserves to be restarted. The issue was more about upper level production issues (as in the contract between ABC and Fox had expired and ABC would have had to pay more for the show had they not cancelled it), so the two situations for the two shows are not the same at all.

Or did people on both ends change history because of what Allen believes IRL? (Both ends = "It shouldn't last because he's you know what" vs. "They cancelled it because the same reason") 1b) To be fair, if you cancel that, then we might as well cancel all the shows that take potshots at people who are "you know what" too. Mostly SNL and late night. This is where we must ponder what's acceptable targets and what aren't? 1c) What Roseanne did was not part of the show. Until we can find examples of Allen doing the same on LMS, it's a moot point. Actually, the SNL, et al examples would be more likely guilty since more of that is rooted in the "real" people through sketches and monologues. 2) Fox the network is going to be part of "New Fox," not the Disney owned Fox. Yes it took me time to figure that out. For a moment I thought "a couple of Fox shows are doomed because of this" (mostly ones created by a certain Mr. MacFarlane...) but then I double checked.

Well, the problem with TV today is that the only two ways to get people to watch live through the commercials in giant numbers are to either appeal to the older post 45 crowd like Rossane or Last Man Standing, or to show live sports. Sometimes a series can break through if it's really amazing but as we've seen with Hannibal and Community in recent years that usually isn't a factor.

The Clayton Endicott III Show (The Benson spinoff nobody knew they wanted). Or go back to the beginning and just remake "Soap".

The sad thing about this is Roseanne was one of the few remakes that actually worked. It's very hard to reboot a show decades after it ended and bring the same magic back. I haven't watched many of the reboots, but Girl Meets World was the drizzling shits, and Fuller House was basically an entire series designed to 1) make fun of Full House, 2) mock the Olsen Twins, and 3) use so many insider jokes and break the 4th wall so much that John Cena would think it's excessive. Roseanne stayed true to what it was (4th wall breaking included) and was genuinely funny (IMO). I can usually look past a person's real life as long as the show entertains me, so Roseanne's previous exploits didn't really bother me (someone else's ignorance is not my problem) but she didn't realize what year it was and what era were live in (social media) and it cost the cast and the fans a good show.
If the rumored "Fresh Princess of Bel-Air" happens, I'm tapping out on TV. Seriously.

A fantastic revival with a very talented cast has now ended prematurely because Roseanne is a loudmouth idiot. That's a shame. I feel really bad for the rest of the cast and the staff who are all now out of jobs. I was really looking forward to Season 11 this Fall. Oh well. ABC did the right thing, and the responsible thing.

My wife actually started watching it. His character is obviously very political and part of the show is that he rants about issues on his businesses web page...but that’s just it. It’s a character. It’s a tv show. Every time he does the rant my wife says he’s just like her dad...but she knows it’s just a show. Problem is too many people let those lines blur these days and take things personal when they don’t need to be. Another problem is people are so damn tone deaf that they’re picking stupid ass fights to stick up for Barr’s dumb ass. Calling for Bill Maher to be fired due to a comment he made about a certain WWE Hall of Farmer having an orangutan for a dad. Bill Maher is a jackass too but if you think that comparing the two as being the same offense...woof.

The thing with LMS is that it isn't really abrasive or anything and the hoopla about ABC canceling it because it was too conservative was a deflection from the real reasons it was cancelled because it really wasn't the case at all. Especially since politics-wise, there were plenty of foils to Tim's character that were portrayed fairly, I thought.
The biggest strike against LMS is that it just wasn't that funny. It was a very generic sitcom and I was kinda surprised it lasted as long as it did. I was mostly pissed about it coming back because it right after Fox announced it was canceling B99 and that found a new home at NBC.

I love that no one ever owns up to saying something stupid/racist and there’s always another reason to blame it on.

Unless you're Katie Hopkins, reported as being detained in South Africa for being high on ketamine, only to file a complaint to have the story corrected to being detained in South Africa for spreading racial hatred.

It's not life changing TV, but it's harmless fun I thought the premise of Fuller House was solid (if not a bit too convenient), but the execution has been very disappointing. They should have embraced the previous show's sappiness and just went with it, but instead it feels like they make fun of it. It's like a Disney show. At least the Boy Meets World spin off actually had to deal with Disney which may have hurt their ability to write compelling characters, but being on Netflix should have helped Fuller House. I mean, I agree with you that's harmless fun, but I just expected better.

As for Fuller House...I'm not entirely sure they could pull off the sappiness with the same level of success. It's still there, but they had to figure a way to tweak the formula.

I know exactly what place to blame the “cancelled because too conservative” came from since I try to read news from as many different sources as possible. It was stupid then and even stupider now because it was creating controversy where there was none. ABC wasn’t punishing Tim Allen over something as stupid as that after all the ratings he’s pulled for them over the years. Plus, Disney ain’t causing unnecessary grief with Buzz Lightyear.
