In hindsight, starting a cinematic universe at a point where Batman is at the end of his crime-fighting career and has already disbanded the Bat-family probably wasn't the best move for long-term storytelling.

What are you talking about? Warner Bros would totally flush a Nightwing film down the drain for a Robin that only had a handful of appearances in Frank Miller's Elseworld trilogy that peaked and wore out its welcome in the FIRST installment. Snyder, why are you like this? Because people are paying attention to him, and he is craving it. Hes convinced himself hes a genius visionary and the snyder cut diehards are feeding his rather undeserved ego.

Yeah, it's great to tell new stories. But we want new stories that also keep the essence of what makes the characters these characters.
Besides, letting Zack Snyder indulge in his boner for Dark Knight Returns isn't exactly telling a new story anyway.

He's just continuing to ape the same one while misunderstanding it. While also confusing the issue by adding Death in the Family imagery on top of it. Despite them being two different stories at two different times. While again any weight on the death of any Robin wouldn't exactly weigh heavily on anyone because WE HAVENT SEEN BATMAN BEFORE THIS MOVIE. I mean we get the jist but we don't know how this one operates so we won't really know well this is out of character for this guy due to grief

Was Dick dead in DKR? I swear his fate was left unknown though it was implied Jason Todd's death was essentially what set the wheels in motion for Bruce's retirement from Batman. I confess it's been a while since I've read the comic. And...uh...spoilers, I guess for the still pretty old sequel story to DKR... {Spoiler}In the sequel Dick's alive anyways as some weird Joker mutant thing.

Zack Snyder is a dumbass TDKR edgelord fanboy.
He was going to kill Dick off before the universe even starts, and add Carrie Kelly. Into the franchise.
He was going to kill off Nightwing before he was Nightwing. Ignore Jason, Tim and Damian. And add Carrie Kelly.
This movie sucks. This cinematic universe sucks and anyone who defends it is complicit in assaulting the DC Universe.

Wonder Woman was fantastic, and Justice League did some good stuff (Superman actually being like Superman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, and of course Gal Gadot continuing to be the perfect Diana) and seems to be hopefully pushing the DCEU down the right path.

Here's an egg sandwich with burned bread, a perfectly cooked egg, some nice spices, and a huge turd in the center. Yeah, the egg is perfect and the spices are nice. But there's still a huge turd in the middle of the sandwich.

I'm pretty sure he was meant to be dead in the original story but it might not have been stated outright. With Bruce talking to himself/Dick during the fight with the supermutant how easy it would be to just kill them, but Batman doesnt do that.

You must have some super censored copy of The Dark Knight Returns bro. I read the book bro, and Batman totally headshots guys bro.

I've always thought it came off like he was dead, but then there's the scene early on where Jim asks Bruce "Have you heard from Dick lately?" and Bruce responds with "You know I haven't." Which is either direct confirmation he's alive, or Jim knows about Bruce talking to a deceased Dick Grayson like a crazy person.

I've said it before, but it wouldn't be a loss if the DCEU just outright ignored Snyder's dumbass ideas, even pretend his movies didn't happen.

It seems that's the direction they're heading in, with Aquaman and WW84 not being beholden to any of the crap Snyder established. Henry Cavill is also pushing to play classic red trunks Superman and throwing out the old stuff.

Hell, Justice League was already moving in that direction, with the "Superman's death made the whole world sad" thing that ignores the whole "should there be a Superman" debate from BvS. Which is ironic, considering Justice League was Frankensteined, in part, from Snyder's dumbass ideas.

The sad thing is, if they had just let him make a straight up Dark Knight Returns adaptation like he seems to have wanted, it probably would have turned out pretty good.
