I don't play video games anymore but I used to and I somehow ended up with some pretty bad systems including Sega CD, Sega 32X, Game.com (with the worst screen I've ever seen on a portable system), and Game Gear (okay, the Game Gear wasn't so much bad as it was just a battery hog with not very many good games). I was tempted to get a Virtual Boy and Atari Jaguar but miraculously changed my mind. What about you guys? What lousy systems and/or games did you own back in the day I'm thinking more of games and systems from 20+ years ago, but if you want to include more modern ones that's fine too.

I got a Virtual Boy... there was nothing bad about it -_-
and yeah the Game Gear was pretty bad... mainly due to the battery life and I never had any games that I felt were must haves, especially when compared to the Gameboy.
I had a lot of the old tiger handhelds they were pretty bad too.

I almost bought an Atari Lynx when I was a kid. Apparently it has quite a lot of really great games, but it also eats batteries like there's no tomorrow and it's pretty bulky.

M.U.S.C.L.E. wrestling for NES is the worst game ever.

Game Gear was f***ing ridiculous. 6 AA batteries and they barely lasted at all.

Not me personally, but my uncle had the 3DO console, which was terrible.

missed the and games part. and Yeah, Pac-Man was a rush job to get it out for Christmas. I maintain that E.T is almost a good game except for the flawed concept of the many pits.

Anyone ever play Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures? I kind like it even though the concept is really flawed.
(I'm going to throw a Language Warning up even though I don't remember if this had bad language or not)

I played the PC Pacman, Adventures in Time (it's great BTW).
I also used to play the Ren and Stimpy game on a Game Gear my aunt and uncle had.
She didn't keep it in the divorce.

The Nintendo 64.
I mean, don't get me wrong, it had some phenomenal games and an especially strong first party lineup. But the hardware of the system itself and the cartridge format were horrendous and so hard for third parties to make multiplatform games for. Combined with Nintendo's arrogant and standoffish attitude towards third parties at the time, it drove a lot of publishers away from Nintendo in order to focus on the Playstation. And the effects of that era are still felt today with the lukewarm support for major publishers of Nintendo home consoles compared to Sony's or Microsoft's consoles.

As much as I enjoy the 64 it's very telling it took almost a year into its life and a decade since the Gamecube died for third parties to want to come back.

I was one of those kids horrendously let down by Pac-Man on the Atari 2600. What's terrible is the fact that fan mods show that the hardware could actually handle the graphics of the original game if you do it right.
Sega 32X was a serious let down. We had a few games for it but only two were any good: Star Wars Arcade (which was pretty good all around though the controls for the 2P gunner were ass-backwards) and Cosmic Carnage (which was awesome when it did not suffer from lag issues, which was an issue far, far too often). I hear there were a few good games for the console, but they really should have simply pushed up the Saturn's release instead.

Bio-Hazard Battle for the Sega Genesis.
There used to be a used games store where all the Genesis games were $20 each. So when I saved up $20 as a kid, I'd go there and get a game. BHB was one of those games I bought.
It looked cool with laser weapons and flying monsters/aliens, but the gameplay was super confusing. I traded it with a friend for a different game only a few days after I bought it.

I bought a HyperScan a couple years after it had already bombed.
Hyperscan is a largely forgotten thing made by Mattel. Games were run on discs but in order to unlock particular characters/scenarios/stats/etc. you would have to buy a pack of cards for that particular game and scan them on the system at the appropriate time. I have 3 games for the system: X-Men, Interstellar Wrestling, and Marvel Heroes. X-Men and Interstellar Wrestling are fighting games, Marvel Heroes is a beat-em-up. All of these games are pretty wack, both in a graphical sense and in, like, collision detection. The system and the controller also felt very cheap, like you could break them if you looked at them too hard. I played each game a couple of times, but the system and the games and whatever cards I have are all sitting in a box in a closet somewhere.
