Don't matter if your wrestle Kenny Omega 100 times, you still ain't getting that WWE stank off you, Chris.

So what if fans start cheering Reigns if he's a heel? Isn't that the entire point, to eventually get him cheered? At that point he could probably re-turn and be a face again soon after.
The problem with Jericho's 2005 feud with Cena was that in part he was not allowed to be the "real heel" he speaks of in that video. That was a silly feud with a heatless Jericho who was on his way out of the company as it turned out and it mostly boiled down to rocker vs. rapper foolishness rather than a heated personal angle. I'm a bit amused at Jericho talking about the fireball to the face stuff from Memphis, yet he doesn't get that it was mostly Lawler doing that to various heels as babyface revenge.
Cornette got some heat in 1987 when he did that to Ron Garvin, but the NWA was a more mainstream show than Memphis. The crowd now would likely react more like the Memphis crowd who enjoyed it, haha.

Industry people do not get the Roman hate. It's pretty consistent that he's liked by people in the industry, who see an upside in him, but resented by much of the fanbase. It's not new. I'm curious why this is, but I think a lot of it is a resentment with the company. We do not like being told who to like, and it's a perfect storm of "Make Roman look strong" from Punk giving a rallying cry, leftover "Cena-nuff" and Rock resentment through familiar ties, and people thinking Dean or Bryan or whoever were shafted for Roman. I like Roman, but there's sooooooo much there to piss fans off that people in wrestling don't get because, well, they're not fans. They don't see it from the bleachers, they work with the guy and see the positives that fans stopped even pretending to give a shit about years ago. I see it as a case of clashing bubbles. WWE has their bubble where they can’t see the reasons why the wider fandom want his push changed/stopped for, and the wider fandom has their bubble where they can’t see the reasons why WWE are keeping his push going without those changes (which, as much as it may be the right answer anyway, is why the default reason is “LOL OLD STUBBORN VINCE”). And stuck in the middle is a guy just doing his job, caught up in the metaphorical Cold War between WWE and its own fanbase.

Here's the thing, if they turn him heel and people cheer, guess what that means? That means he would have become entertaining and he would be must-see TV. Think about how positive that is, it would be fantastic. It would be literally turning shit into gold.

Here's a brief list of one time heels who ruined the business by getting cheered:
Austin, Steve Cena, John Hart, Bret Hogan, Hulk Michaels, Shawn Rock, The
Clearly a list of never were's if I've ever seen one.

Another "you boo Roman because your ignorant sheep" argument?
Maybe we are all wrong. Maybe us alternative fans really do need to change.
Go Roman. I'll <3 u now, promise.

This is why I don't like Jericho.
Everything he says is obnoxious and arrogant.

Actually, if you keep him exactly as he is now, and just put him against faces instead of heels, while acknowledging that yes, he is the golden boy, I don't see how he wouldn't get the shit booed out of him. Over time, he starts showing more confidence and personality in the heel role, he gets over organically, and they can finally turn him face again and get what they wanted in the first place instead of this square peg in a round hole bullshit we've been getting for 4 years.

That would only work if they committed into moving him away from typical babyface tropes. They used a similar excuse for why Cena was supposedly a heel. But if he walks like a face, and talk like a face, while the fans boo the shit out of him, he's still a face.

If Roman actually turned heel then they wouldn't lose regardless the crowd's response.
If he's cheered then hey, he's finally gotten over. If he's booed then hey, you've got the biggest true heel on the roster.
You can't lose.

A fireball. Some flash paper's gonna get Roman over as a face when Braun was literally tipping over ambulances some months ago?
Nossir.

They can if the boos are not because he's a heel and are instead because there are still people who want him future endeavored. I'm not saying those would be the majority but they would be close.

"They just see Roman and they just start booing because it's the in thing rather than just shutting up and watching this guy for what he is which is a great performer. And that'll come. Obviously if he turned heel he'd get over, but if he turned heel all the people that booed him would start cheering him."
Jericho...I love ya, man, but no.

I don't think that matters in the grand scheme of things. It's like when the WWE tried to identify why Bryan was being cheered rather than saying "well a cheer is a cheer", it's not really about why stars are being booed and cheered but rather that it's happening in general so you can twist them any way you like. Judging how large the boos/cheers are and then using that to position the superstar should be the main point rather than any variables as to why. In Roman's case, if he's being heavily booed then make him a heel and see how it works.

Man, you'd think with everything leading up to Roman's unpopularity being archived on the WWE Network, that such remarks would not even be happening. It's like Magic Beans or the Royal Rumble 2015 never happened.

If you phrase it like that, though, you’re basically saying ALL of this is over promos and a match which are now over three years ago in the rear view mirror. There’s more to it than that... Right?

Yeah he was the worst guy in the Shield and now he’s the worst main events they have (assuming Mahal isn’t in the picture anymore.) He’s been afforded a ton of opportunity for someone who just plain isn’t good enough to deserve it.
