If you phrase it like that, though, you’re basically saying ALL of this is over promos and a match which are now over three years ago in the rear view mirror. There’s more to it than that... Right? Yeah he was the worst guy in the Shield and now he’s the worst main events they have (assuming Mahal isn’t in the picture anymore.) He’s been afforded a ton of opportunity for someone who just plain isn’t good enough to deserve it. Pretty much. The answer to the question of "why is Roman Regins getting booed in 2018" isn't really Sufferin' Succotash or any of the mistakes made in 2014-2015. But it is the root of the answer to the question of "why Roman Reigns got booed in 2015." He wasn't a main event caliber talent when they gave him the spot, and their staunch refusal to take a step back in their direction of Reigns's career (regardless of how many times they hit the panic button in Wrestlemania main events or how many short term jobs he does on TV) is why it hasn't stopped in almost four years. The fact that he probably has been good enough for the spot since 2016 doesn't really matter, because how can anyone invest in the guy when it seems like they'd give him the keys to the kingdom regardless of whether or not he's actually worthy of it?

I wish Jericho would stop saying/writing things that aren't involved in an angle. Every time it tarnishes him more.

Rock was booed.
WWE turned him heel.
The rest is history.
WWE refuse to follow their own example. Their apologists like Jericho are being wilfully ignorant.

I wonder what the narrative will be once Roman gets replaced by the next "Guy" down the line. Watch WWE try to spin it as said superstar's the most popular star in WWE history given "he's overcome the divided crowd mentality that plagued Roman Reigns and even John Cena" or some crap like that.

Im not sure Cena is the best example. He still got a lot more positive reactions in addition to the boos.
In theory he also stood for something and stayed true to that, Roman switches gears so often that he doesn't. Standing up for yourself in defiance of jeers is respectable, changing yourseld to appease them isn't.

Every person in the business blames, iwc, smark, smart fans, etc for Roman being booed. It drives me crazy. Me too. I mean it's every crowd anywhere in North America that booing this guy and outside as a group Shield was when he was getting cheers until the original break up of the Shield. He wasn't monster over as a face before he got hurt. Cena at one point was monster over as a face, it changed when he became super man and started taking away the main things that got him over in the first place.

Why does Jericho think throwing a fireball at Reigns would get him sympathy?
During feuds with both Strowman and Lesnar, Roman was stretchered away, then attacked again while helpless on the stretcher. Both times, fans responded by cheering hoping he would be further injured.
If Roman was blinded in a storyline and the following RAW it was announced: "Due to Roman's injuries he will be unable to compete tonight" it would receive the biggest pop of the night.

As mentioned before, Strowman literally lifted the ambulance Roman was in and pushed it on its side. If THAT wasn’t going to get Roman sympathy, literally nothing outside an assassination attempt might and even then that’s ambiguous AT BEST.

Love that the fans get the blame again. Utter rubbish. If the fans don't like something it's your job to change it simple as.
Also I don't think people would have been too invested in a Jericho Reigns feud since it would have been obvious to everyone that Reigns is going over.
But again it goes into the idea that if Reigns turns heel then he won't ever be the top babyface which isn't true. Just TRY something different, turn him heel and you never know he could eventually get there. Going this route isn't helping Reigns or the company.

I'm kind of back to the mindset that nothing can ever save Roman.
A heel turn wouldn't, and years away from the company wouldn't. It all would be looked at as an attempt for the company to make us like him, and the "You can't work us, Vince, F*** off!" factor would kick in.

The reason Reigns gets booed is a bit more complex than ‘they boo him because it’s cool to boo good guys’ Like if that was the case how do you explain guys like Bryan or Gargano who are basically the perfect babyfaces out there right now and consistently get cheered. A face character can get over but it needs to be genuine and not forced.

Won't speak for everybody else, but THAT is what sours me on Roman. He's in a spot right now where it's just so obvious that every single time he's on camera or mentioned, no matter what is going on you know the end result is all about making him strong in the end. Braun flips an ambulance on him? Roman will come out strong in the end. Brock kills him at Mania? Roman will come out strong in the end. Joe kills him on a promo? Somehow Roman will come out strong in the end.

seriously. i'm getting sick of this argument. there's really no way that people just don't like the stuff the guy does? people seriously can't be sick of the guy getting shoved down their throats?

The trouble is, Rocky wasn't even a year in to his WWF run before he turned heel and so hadn't been shoved down people's throats the same way. It would still work for Reigns but I think it would take something big to turn him heel. Like last year's Wrestlemania, if he'd savagely beaten Undertaker after the match. Something like that would have worked.

You get the crowd actually invested in something, like Gargano/Ciampa, they’ll react how they are supposed to. Force it too much and they won’t.

Problem 1 : It's blatant that no matter what happens, there are no real, lasting consequences upon Roman's career, nothing that is going to permanently move him down the card or get him paid less than someone more popular than him.
Problem 2 : Any move WWE makes regarding Roman's career, up to and including firing, is going to be seen as a blatant attempt to garner him sympathy that nobody will ever give him. People hate the dude so much that when his brother died, people on Twitter mocked him and shit all over him for it.

Roman's the highest-paid full timer in the company. Nobody (except his family) wants that. People resent the money that they paid for Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, and Rusev being funneled into Roman's bank account instead.
