So the payoff to Charlotte ending Asuka's streak was Carmella putting her in a rest hold and screaming for ten minutes then beating her clean off a missed moonsault. Yeah.
For real that was Triple H / Kozlov levels of unbelievably boring with a crowd that didn't remotely care. But at least that had a memorable finish.

The hated, clearly unworthy heel managed to sneak out another cheap win through being super wiley even if she's clearly an inferior opponent.
There's this thing I wish we'd stop doing where we confuse "a result we don't like" with "objectively bad quality."
edit: I apologize for this post. Leaving it up for transparency's sake, but it's a real jerk move on my part to accuse posters of being dishonest in their criticism of a thing they don't like. Sorry guys.

Carmella needs a lot of work to be deserving of the top of the Women's card. This just smells transitioning to Asuka and get Charlotte away from the title until late fall.

I'm legit curious, what would you have preferred? A good match where something actually happened at some point? Maybe having the cheap win be something involving the IIconics since they've been central to the entire build? |

The second point I can agree with. I too thought it was a badly structured match but the result of a heel champ getting a fluke (but still clean) win due to an injury is solid. I still think it would've been worse to have Asuka win at WM and then have her lose to an overdone 'surprise' cash-in since they seemed intent on having Carmella be champ before the next MITB. |

One of the most boring women's matches I've seen in a while. Coked up Carmella on the post show was really entertaining though , at least.

Loved it. Their carefully crafted plans to set up Carmella v Ronda for Mania 35 are really coming together. FINALLY the women will main event Mania.

Chinlock for eight minutes while Carmella screams her lungs out the entire time all while the crowd is dead silent. Charlotte goes for a moonsault and misses. Carmella kicks her in the leg then rolls her up for three. That is literally everything that happened. |

Seems like I did the right move by watching that AWA marathon on ESPN Classic. I'd take a Teijo Khan match over #MellaIsMoney anyday.

This was one of those matches where WWE had an annoying-but-perfectly-logical ending (IIconics interfere, or some such), and they go with an SWERVE! ending that makes everybody look like crap instead. Its even worse because the post-show doesn't treat it like a fluke, they talk about how great Carmella was, how she dominated, ugh. Must be real deflating for Charlotte going from a classic at Mania to this.
