Dude, once these new deals fully kick in WWE is going to have their most profitable years ever. What you're doing is like someone complaining about a $10,000 per year raise at work because it adds $100 to their annual commuting expenses. You're also increasing your workload when you can not increase your workload and get similar results. Everyone involved on the production side will be either taking 4 airline flights from Friday to Tuesday or spend every Saturday/Sunday in a hotel not working, which wrestlers have said is basically the worst of both worlds. Fox is also kind of stupid if they insist on a live show because history has shown that being live doesn't help WWE's ratings that much. Fox will want to keep it live because advertisers will pay more for a live show then a taped one.

That is so spectacular! Really hope this means WWE will be more creative and do things out of the box for their shows now they are on a big network. The Friday time slot isn't really ideal, but we will see how they do. I do hope the show is live at least. It will be. They’re not paying that much for a taped show. Vince is standing in a Stamford office right now with McDevitt & interns combing over the contracts to see if there's a loophole in there which would allow for it... He's a billionaire now and he's still being tight with cash. "FIND THAT LOOPHOLE GODDAMMIT!!!"

You're also increasing your workload when you can not increase your workload and get similar results. Everyone involved on the production side will be either talking 4 airline flights from Friday to Tuesday or spend every Saturday/Sunday in a hotel not working, which wrestlers have said is basically the worst of both worlds. Get similar results how? FOX obviously wants the show on Fridays and aren't paying this much money for a taped show. You're trying to spin a massively positive thing into something that has a large downside when that simply isn't true. Ratings-wise. Whatever ratings Fox wants can be obtained through a taped show because history has shown taped Raws and taped Smackdowns do just as good as live ones. It's still true even if Fox doesn't get that. On a side note, from what was said WOL today, SD can be downgraded to Fox Sports 1 if Fox isn't happy with the ratings, which is much more likely on a broadcast station than with a cable network like USA.

Can someone fill me in on the current touring schedule?
I know Tuesdays are the end of the week, and Fridays are the beginning. Would this stay the same if SmackDown was moved to Friday but kept as a live program?

So are we going to get our damned pyro back or WHAT?! Meltzer even mentioned that the other day. I’m paraphrasing but it was basically “If they end up getting $400-450mil. for both shows, they can definitely afford to bring back pyro which everyone seems to care so f***ing much about that I keep getting asked about it” And for some reason, I laughed my ass off

Apparently WWE is now worth more than UFC was sold for, damn. Correct. Google says that UFC sold for $4 billion; WWE stock finished today valued at almost $4.5 billion. The crazy thing is that when the market opened this morning, WWE’s value was just shy of $4 billion, around 3.96 or something like that. Pretty healthy gain in just one day!

They can't "not increase their workload and get similar results". Being live has a value to Fox even if it doesn't do amazing things for the ratings, and that value is to the tune of nine figures a year. If WWE didn't value that huge increase over keeping things tighter, they wouldn't have taken the deal they did, but I can't see Fox paying them that much for a show on three days' tape delay. Also, all-live, post-brand split Smackdown has done much higher ratings than it was doing as a taped show. Was Smackdown doing less than 2 million viewers on SyFy or Thursdays on USA? I don't remember them being that bad.

I wonder if this means a return to Fridays Not a lot of regular network programming would be interrupted or halted to make room

Who cared about the pyro until they took it away? Honestly, I did. It separated the product and made certain entrances that much more something. I mean...Seth, I love you buddy...but your whole flailing fist pump when your song drops the "BURN IT DOWN!!" is just so awkward without a least a loud BOOM or something!

Fox and not just FS1? Yeah, there is a new A show. This. It reminds me when Smackdown started and everything cool happened on that show. UPN , CW, My9 aren’t FOX, but it was still network tv and Smackdown was still the B show.

All right, maybe “nobody cared” is a bit too far in the other direction. But because it had always been there, hardly anyone really noticed it specifically until it was taken away.

Sure but FOX is in the network A tier and much more likely to be cross promoted along some of their bigger shows. MyNetworkTV was practically a re-run channel and CW back then was a mishmash of what made WB and UPN work with no real sense of their identity.

I can't do anything but give Vince and his people props because as much as I dislike some of the product, if there's anything Vince knows it's how to do these meetings. He did an amazing job here.

Would this stay the same if SmackDown was moved to Friday but kept as a live program? Raw wrestlers: Friday-Monday SDL wrestlers: Saturday-Tuesday Wrestlers wouldn't be affected much, but anyone behind the scenes who works both Raw and Smackdown TV shoots would be. Vince himself would be increasing his own travel schedule because he is usually at any televised event.
