Probably already been said, but between the roster shakeup and this news, obviously Paige is the greatest General Manager of all time.

I see this going like Smackdown, at first, after the shakeup in 2016.
It'll be important for a little while at least.

New Day's gonna be on Empire. I didn't even think about cross promotion in that way, wow huge opportunity may open up for a lot of guys. UPN used to do this back in the day with SD too, that's how we got The Rock on Star Trek Voyager. Heh, this whole deal is f***ing huge with really deep tendrils branching out. Watch our WWE/Simpons threads be based partially in reality some day.

It’s incredible how little the majority of this board does not understand the business side of WWE. I don’t know why it gets to me, but alas. It's more of a matter not being able to separate what happens on TV to the results of WWE actually gaining revenue For people I can assume it's poor tv shouldn't equal more money but WWE as a business is booming and trending even if the product itself on TV isn't optimal
This, particularly in the direction of "it's frustrating that WWE is getting these deals with such a sub-par product that leaves people feeling like they have no incentive to improve because why bother". I've seen Fox jerk around and f*** with really good shows that they then canceled because their constant messing about, pre-empting, and rescheduling ended up driving people away from it. WWE who have been frustrating me for a very long time with how complacent they are, waltz in and get 200 mil a year for a show that over the past twelve months has been just an absolute mess. People understand the business side of things, but we really have no interaction or stake in the business side of things unless we own shares in the company. All we can really see or constructively care about is the TV side of things, and for some people, hearing they're making so much money that Meltzer believes they'll be able to pretty much just run on TV money and anything else is a nice cushiony bonus isn't a good twist on things.

It’s on a major network, like “bigger than CW” network. One that’ll have more money to play with whether Disney or Comcast buys their TV and film production. They seem to know where they want Smackdown to go and it suits their audience more than it being on the CW was. Like, USA gave WWE money because that’s all they have. FOX are giving them money because there’s value with what they already have.

This could potentially be good for ROH. If WWE does well on broadcast TV, it could potentially get their syndicated show on more networks and in better timeslots on stations around the country. Pretty much all of the good time slots are taken up by the national broadcaster or more important things like the local news and sports. I think the best semi-realistic big thing for ROH would be for the sale of the Tribune Company to Sinclair to go through and ROH to end up on WGN with a decent timeslot.

Wonder if this means more specifically cable networks will take their own shot at wrestling now and alot more low level indies getting TV slots..albeit really shitty timeslots but they get on TV none the less.
It is gonna be the early 2000s all over again...somewhere in the TV land XPW is about to make a come back.

By traditional standards it still wouldn't be great, but I'm thinking they could get on more stations on Saturdays at noon or 4pm rather than Saturday at 4 am or midnight like they have now. Local Fox affiliates especially have a ton of reasonably good time slots to fill on the weekends.

All this is a rare case of WWE being ahead of the curve. They were expecting a deal like this the last time the rights were up, positioning themselves as a content provider that networks would want to work with, and that didn't happen, with NBCU being the only ones to show any sort of interest. Now it's a more favourable situation, and a different TV market, and the McMahons are reaping the benefits.

Well, if WWE have deals in place with FOX and USA, that's obviously NBCU and the FOX tv network out of the picture because there'll be exclusitivity clauses involved. Can't see Paramount taking the plunge after the TNA debacle and Turner broadcasting won't touch wrestling.

It is gonna be really really f***ing interesting as it pretains to the Young Bucks and those guys as they are about to put on the biggest indy show of all time but ya know WWE especially now is gonna come at them with every single lining in their pocket. Gonna be real interesting to see what wins over now with those guys because if WWE backs the literal brinks truck up and they are going to now and they take it that is a blow to any competition for atleast the next 5yrs if not more from ever rising up ever. I think it's gonna be the opposite. I think Vince sees a billion reasons to not care about anything else. Their tiny potatoes compared to him now.

Would Disney own the current shows and, say, move them to whatever they'll likely rebrand FX (hopefully not as bad as Freeform)? Would Fox still use them in context?

somewhere in the TV land XPW is about to make a come back. Kriss Kloss: "...Is that? Yes it is! Ray Romano, the star of TV Land's Everybody Loves Raymond, has Sabu on the top of the cage! He's... Oh god! [scream] Ray Romano has just pile driven Sabu from the top of the cage onto a pile consisting of barbed wire tables, chairs, thumbtacks and Supreme, who is inexplicably on fire! And... Yes! He did it! Ray Romano is your new XPW King of the Death Match champion! What do have to say to that, Larry Rivera?" Larry Rivera: "This is some real violent crap, chico. Co-commissioners George Lopez and Betty White will sure have their hands full Monday!"

I guess it depends on what production company said shows come from (and I’m really not knowledgeable about that stuff) but I guess they’d have that stuff because it’s not on FOX and FOX would either have to get the rights to show them on the main channel or let them go over. I mean, FOX are probably going to have to get shows from other companies anyway which seems to be how it all worked with stuff like Gotham and Brooklyn Nine Nine being from Warner Bros and NBC Universal respectively.
