So is there an over/under on how long it takes Fox to cancel SD? It won’t get canceled for a long time. Fox is moving away from the current TV model of a bunch of scripted shows. They want Live TV on most of their TV nights since their selling their main TV production arm to Disney. This is apart of their new channel vision.

See, I wish Raw had moved so it could go back to 2 hours and they could keep SD on USA. I'm a bit puzzled as to what sort of ratings Fox is expecting out of this and whether they will cancel WWE if it doesn't do that well. This isn't UPN here.
It did seem odd that WWE seemed to load up SD in this recent draft, but it does make more sense now. Though I dunno if they view it as loading up SD at the moment.

So, non-American here, I know of FOX (Simpsons home, and drawing a swift veil over their internationally famous news channel), but I know NBC too. How much of a bigger deal is this for the WWE? One aspect is that Smackdown Live will be available to more viewers because it’s moving to a broadcast network. Unlike USA, fans won’t need a subscription to cable or satellite since FOX is broadcast over the public airwaves.

It's good for the brand to be on network television as a means to reach out to more viewers, but it does suck to know the company is being rewarded for incompetence.
Besides, I know how it'll go; all the top guys are moved there next year to make the brand look like a huge deal, and by late 2020, it'll be treated as a middling show to appease the "smarks".
Considering the format they did with the move to MyNetwork TV, and the introductions of both Superstars & Main Event recently, I can't help but to feel like it's too predictable.

Two things I want out of this: 1) SDL staying 2 hours 2) For both shows to actually feel like separate brands I don’t know why but I kinda feel like we’ll be back to the Super Show model by then.

Fox and not just FS1? Yeah, there is a new A show. This. It reminds me when Smackdown started and everything cool happened on that show.

Nah, This is one of the big 4 television networks. This isn’t MyNetworkTV or UPN. They’ll probably be loading these shows with PPV level matches and storylines because this is their biggest chance in a long time at huge exposure.

Do you think them being on FOX would allow them to get away with any more things censorship wise in terms of rating and standing? Or will they keep that whole Bubble as it has always been? Just a weird situation because FOX would easily allow a window for more of that, unless WWE's sponsors wouldn't like it overall.

Wonder if this means no more of either on hulu? Or would that not change? Hulu is co-owned by by Fox,NBU Universal,Turner and Disney. Basically the only way WWE shows would no longer be on Hulu is if they had signed with CBS or HBO Turner is co-owned with HBO, so it's really only CBS.

This is tremendous, as Fox is a major network here. And not a cable network, so anyone with a TV should get it. Raw is probably staying on USA (which is owned by NBC Universal), and it's technically in fewer homes. Of all the cable tiers, though, USA is probably on that lowest tier above basic cable, so it's still in a great many homes. ....now if Raw is moving to NBC, then that's just as huge as Smackdown on FOX.

Will that new vision also include getting their programming on from 10-11pm? FOX affiliates still (for the most part) control that hour, which is what still sets FOX apart from CBS/NBC/ABC, though getting that hour back from affiliates (they run their own news hours there, which is big money for advertising) would be tough...

WWE's restrictions are self imposed to make them more attractive to potential business partners. They operate well below the TV PG guidelines and could go further if they wanted too.

So is there an over/under on how long it takes Fox to cancel SD? This doesn't work that way. It's a rights contract like NBA or NFL. It will run there as long as they have a contract unless they want to pay WWE even more to end the deal.

Yeah, being on actual FOX is a gamechanger. WWE will have, for the first time ever, have a weekly presence on a broadcast network. It’s amazing how things change so quickly. It wasn’t that long ago that they had to accept an embarrassing TV deal. Now both NBC and FOX arelingomg up to pay them hundreds of millions of dollars.

I wonder if being on FOX and getting that much money would make them possibly want to, as FOX also opens up the opportunity for a lot more eyes to also be on them, who knows.

It's fair to say that TV Rights Deal 2: The Quickening seems to be going a lot better than the original.

Funny that is what WWE was counting on the last time the contracts were up.
