Look - we can say what we want about the product, but as a BUSINESS, it's clear that WWE is killing it. The stock is up over 30 dollars since last year and this deal is huge, mainstream validation of the company. I'd expect with rights fees like this that we might see some of the production elements that went away come back to make it seem more legit (licensed music, fireworks, etc.)

WWE's restrictions are self imposed to make them more attractive to potential business partners. They operate well below the TV PG guidelines and could go further if they wanted too. I wonder if being on FOX and getting that much money would make them possibly want to, as FOX also opens up the opportunity for a lot more eyes to also be on them, who knows. I don't think the f-words and the blading is going to come back.

Now that Smackdown is on the main network, this means we need a new booker. No more Road Dogg.
Who's with me, getting Fox to boot Road Doog??

Yeah, being on actual FOX is a gamechanger. WWE will have, for the first time ever, have a weekly presence on a broadcast network. It’s amazing how things change so quickly. It wasn’t that long ago that they had to accept an embarrassing TV deal. Now both NBC and FOX arelingomg up to pay them hundreds of millions of dollars. I'd say it's more the state of linear tv. Funny that is what WWE was counting on the last time the contracts were up. Gotta give WWE credit on this. They saw this coming in 2014 but we Networks didn’t realize it until later.

WWE is about to make huuuuuuuuge money. From these new TV rights deals, to the WWE Network becoming profitable, to stuff like the GRR event. They’ll probably clear a billion dollars in revenue in 2019-2020 without even needing to up their current spending all that much. I really wish I would have bought stock a year or two ago.

I hear Noam Dar was integral to this deal. He knows all about being on Fox.

We live in a world where AJ Styles vs Cletus the Robot with Corey Graves and Joe Buck in commentary can be a thing.

So, non-American here, I know of FOX (Simpsons home, and drawing a swift veil over their internationally famous news channel), but I know NBC too. How much of a bigger deal is this for the WWE? This is tremendous, as Fox is a major network here. And not a cable network, so anyone with a TV should get it. Raw is probably staying on USA (which is owned by NBC Universal), and it's technically in fewer homes. Of all the cable tiers, though, USA is probably on that lowest tier above basic cable, so it's still in a great many homes. ....now if Raw is moving to NBC, then that's just as huge as Smackdown on FOX. Thanks! Ah, so for example RAW and Smackdown are on ITV Encore (run by one of the big channels here but it's a subscription add on), and Smackdown is moving to, say, BBC1 or Channel 4 (ie Free to view channels available on any TV set in the UK). Gotcha. Sounds like a big deal for the WWE then.

Latest word is via the Hollywood Reporter that the deal is ONE BILLION DOLLARS over five years, so they're getting around $200m A YEAR. FOX definitely got a lot of money from the sale to Disney!

WWE is making a killing while the fans are pulling their hair out lmao. I wonder how it'll be. Will they listen to the people complaining now or will they say "nah f*** em" even more now?
Fans won't cause em to change a thing. Networks and money though? Different story.

That's why WWE are concerned about World of Sport being a success, because they have the potential to reach multiple more times the amount of viewers on ITV that the WWE can reach behind a paywall on Sky.

So SD is in the dead slot on Fridays not the best start IMO but I guess this is more a test to see how the show performns on the worst night of the week for TV.
At worst it will hold steady with where it is now because idk what is on friday nights for it to compete against.
