the first Wonder Woman was good and I'm sure this one will be as well. I'm just wondering if it's worth watching considering I have no idea what the DCEU even consists of anymore. Whether this film 'counts' or is a 'standalone' title. Whether it's set in the traditional DCEU or if this new unrelated bizarro world the Joker film will be set in. I'll probably watch it (guess I answered my own question) and enjoy the fight scenes, humor, and special effects, but I will also be scratching my head about the overall importance. I guess the MCU has set the bar so high in terms of storytelling, crossovers, and overall fan service that a WW sequel doesn't seem like a very big deal. I know, it's an action flick and I shouldn't be overthinking it. If anything, I think the Joker movies will be standalones. By all accounts, WW84 and Shazam are continuations if the DCEU. Starting with Justice League, it seems their answer so far has been to retcon what they can (Superman has always been a beacon of hope!) and ignore what they can't. Though, it does make me wonder what they're going to do with Steve, considering one of the things they did keep in the final cut was Wonder Woman not being over his loss.

Everyone is talking about Steve, but how about that majestic gentleman in the shorts in the background? If they're smart, no matter how insignificant he is, they'd make that guy the Paul from Deadpool 2 for this one.

Resurrected Steve isn't going to cockblock Bruce is he? If we're allowing BATMAN V SUPERMAN to exist, Bruce was roughly 10 years old when the film EXCALIBUR was released (which was in 1981). So he's 13 when the events of WW1984 take place. I meant in the sense that they could eventually use this to find some way to resurrect Steve in current time.

I think all WB can do to help steer the DCEU to more success now is to just go with what's been best received, instead of rebooting the whole thing. I've never been one of those who'd claim the current DC universe is "dead" or "hopeless" (but then I generally enjoyed Justice League, and I was meh on Suicide Squad). BvS was definitely a misstep, but I want to keep seeing Superman (as JL left him at least) and these characters play off one another.

My friend lives in the dc area and tried to check out shooting today but they were only setting up stuff. I told him to say, "Good show, Amazon!," if he ever sees Gal Gadot. You never know.

I really feel like Justice League was a sort of unintentional soft reboot (a big part of why it's so disjointed; it's trying to erase the Snyder-influence from the DCEU, despite itself having started as a Snyder project). It seems, for now, they're just going to work with what they have. If Aquaman, Shazam, and WW84 are all successful, I think the suits will start breathing easier.

I dunno if I'll see it, I haven't seen Wonder Woman 2 through 1983.

I dunno if I'll see it, I haven't seen Wonder Woman 2 through 1983. Wonder Woman 1944 is considered a classic, but there are some dated stereotypes that don't hold up. WW-1979 is a lot of fun, if you can get past the garish fashion sense. Wonder Woman 1969, that's when things get trippy. Avoid Wonder Woman 1973 like the plague. If you thought Karate Wonder Woman was crazy, wait until you see '73's godawful special effects and bad writing.

Depends on when Flash comes out, them calling it Flashpoint... I expect that to wipe away a lot of the Universe at the very least the majority of the Snyder Influence. I mean Patty Jenkins already said they retcon'd some of it.

Can't we just have a positive discussion of Wonder Woman? Why does it always have to devolve into a conversation about the other movies where people just talk about them sucking or whatever?
I'm looking forward to Wonder Woman 1984 big time.

I wish. Instead of Kristen Wiig as Cheetah. I still don't understand that casting. There are so many better and more credible actresses who could do that role. Charlize, Angelina, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Rhona Mitra, hell...Jennifer Lawerence or Lopez. Anne Hathaway has already played a "Cat Woman." I'll be hopeful, but I see another weak villain here.

Ares was definitely weird casting. I thought for sure he was going to change form into something more threatening instead of just strapping on armor.

Yeah, David Thewlis just looked awkward in the armor. The helmet giving him Bane voice didn't help at all either.
