Test got his name because he came in as a bodyguard/roadie for Motley Crue. Roadies often go to the microphone before a show and say "Test. Test."

Took me almost two decades as a fan to realize the "Figure 4 Leg-Lock" was named so because it twists the opponent's legs literally into the figure of the number "4." I always thought it was because applying it was a four-step process, and once you had it on it was the "fourth figure" of the leg-lock. This might be because the Royal Rumble SNES game had a four-frame animation for Ric to apply it. This is also why Charlotte's "figure 8" had her hands in something of a circle so that her body resembled the number "8." Well, the ECW fans first called him Justin Edible, which didn't make sense. It does. The fans refused to have him shoved down their throats during his mega push. He was "Just Inedible." But aren't the fans then being really, really meta then? Plus, that means they'll "eat up" other people then that are being "fed" to them.

It's a WCW/WWF one really, but it was only recently that I rewatched Austin's 'Is it, funny? Is it, humorous?' promo with Hugh Morrus, and realised that his name was meant to be a pun on the word humorous. I'm not sure I've ever met a single person whose pronunciation makes that gag work. Tony Schiavone often pronounced it as 'humorous' in WCW.

I thought it was a steroid reference, and it was supposedly eventually going to connect him to "Key" - Vic Grimes' VERY short lived drug dealer character (whose name is a play on Kilo).

Also, I may have thought Eugene was legitimately disabled at first. I didn't start watching until halfway through his run and knew it was worked but...yeah

This isn’t embarrassing but it’s a bit odd: The Honky Tonk Man and Brutus Beefcake went against each other at the first three Survivor Series cards on opposite teams. Pretty sure that hasn’t happened since.

When I was young, I thought Spike Dudley in his early ECW days was supposed to be a down syndrome character. Later did I discover his character was a guy tripped out on acid and not someone who was mentally challenged.
Then I later discovered that the initials Little Spike Dudley were LSD.

And his finishing move was called the acid drop (in ECW, anyway).

Just thought of a new one.
I just realized that Candice LeRae's second-rope neckbreaker is called "Ms. LeRae's Wild Ride" not just in reference to Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, but also the fact that she adopted that move from Joey Ryan, who called it the Mustache Ride.

I always thought that Shawn Michaels threw Marty Janetty through the Barber Shop window. It was only recently when I heard the original commentary I learned what really happened.

Not really WWE, but I alway thought the show was called "Something to Wrestle With", not "Something to Wrestle, with Bruce Prichard".
