Not to rip off the other thread, officialfan.proboards.com/thread/572985/opinion-changed-mind-onWhich is right here in.... WREST! I want to know if there's anything or anybody that you, the FAN forum have changed an opinion on? I will start with something easy. At first, I hated Hiroshi Tanahashi's new theme. Rip High Energy.. this song... is ok. I love his theme now and I remember this because it was my first live Wrestle Kingdom with the Forums.

There was a time when, I've always liked Cody Rhodes, but I was a little worried he was going to run out of steam after the initial buzz around him, with some souring on him.
Given he's arguably THE heel in the indie scene right now, and gave the Bullet Club a sorely needed kick in the ass, though, these fears were unfounded. He has risen to the occasion.

Daniel Bryan used to be one of my absolute favourite guys. I won't go fully into my feelings here as I have in other threads (unless someone asks) but on principle I don't watch him anymore.

It's a controversial one, but...
I now understand why people scoff at professional wrestling. Sure, I knew it was corny, but I enjoyed it. Now that I've been away for some time and saw a match recently...yeah, it was bad (even the videos that people post here that they say are funny or amazing usually leave me with a feeling of, 'meh'). I still enjoy some old school stuff and post on two wrestling sites occasionally, but not as much as I used to.
GLOW is still good, though.

I used to really like Chikara's comedy antics. Now it comes across as tryhard and hipstery to me, especially when you have on the same show, say, a slow-mo tag match involving ice creams, and a supposedly intense blood feud battle between Eddie Kingston & Hallowicked. It's tonally inconsistent and it's jarring. When it's consistent through the show, fine. It's for the same reason I don't mind Omega vs the kid or Yoshihiko the doll, but really, really hated Omega vs Yano from the G1 last year. It's too much comedy DDT wacky in what is otherwise a sports-oriented product.
Workrate in general is less important to me now than character, presentation and story. The formula to a great match is not just go longer or do more moves. Give me Lesnar and Goldberg slamming into each other any day over some of the ROH matches from the 00s that could be a technical clinic between two utterly bland boring guys. But of course, if you have both workrate and story, you have a classic.
In general though the biggest opinion I've changed my mind on is- "I don't want people to know I'm a wrestling fan". For most of my fandom I've been extremely on the down-low about liking wrestling, but the last few years, with the rise of super mainstream actor-wrestlers like the Rock and Batista, or John Cena becoming a part of mainstream pop culture, and I think the sports crossovers of guys like Lesnar (and probably even Punk), coupled with the awesome increase in visibility of NJPW and just the internet generally making wrestling more visible, I've noticed a definite shift culturally that wrestling fandom is becoming more socially acceptable. It'll never be cool, but it's definitely not looked down upon the same now. At least in my experience.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan
I used to think he was an absolute bore, and watching his matches or segments were a real chore. But now, I've done an almost complete 180 on him. He's a lovable buffoon, really, where less is certainly more.
Ok, so that read as a Dr Seuss story, but I swear it was unintentional. Now let's hear what other poster have in store.

The NWA United States belt the one held by Nikita Koloff and Lex Luger. Used to hate it especially after the replacement one came afterwards.
But after the WWF/E had that spinner US belt and that fugly thing they have now I look back and was wrong that NWA US belt is pretty. Bring it back.
If I could afford collecting belts I’d even buy one.

Me as a kid: “Ugh. What’s the big deal about this Sid guy? He’s so sluggish and boring. Why is he WWF champion?”
Me now: OMG I LOVE SID SO MUCH *breakdances to the Psycho Sid theme*

I thought that Del Rio had a serious shot at being a cornerstone of the business for years, even after he left WWE the first time.
Whoops

Gargano and Ciampa are boring and will ever entertain me.
Now they’re my favourite part of WWE TV.

The Young Bucks are NOT talentless spot monkeys who do nothing but paint-by-numbers, get-their-shit-in matches with superkicks filling the gaps but can, in fact, tell stories in the ring.

Given LU, I have a warmer opinion of Jack Evans than I did. Previously, I felt like Neville and Ricochet did the super acrobatic thing better, but I think he got to show he can do some things those other two can't, such as play a twerpy, dudebro heel with the best of them.
An unfortunate one would Michael Elgin. I never loved the guy, but I think much, much less of him now than I did previously.

I used to believe that Hogan winning the title at Wrestlemania 9 was a good thing as it made a forgettable show memorable. However, on reflection it was a horrible move that derailed Bret Hart, made Yokozuna look like an idiot, showed Hogan to be a two-faced backstabber and Vince as pathetic schoolgirl who had an undying crush on The Hulkster.
Today I see Hogan winning the title in all of its true wrongness.

I used to think Jay Briscoe was one of the best indy guys out there.
Then I was reminded that he is an asshole and I stopped caring about him entirely.

Brutus Beefcake made things work for himself and in no way benefited from his association with Hulk Hogan.

Gargano and Ciampa are boring and will ever entertain me. Now they’re my favourite part of WWE TV. I had a similar thing. I thought they were both bland as shit. Now I'm terrified at how badly used they'll be on the main rosters. Other things that I have U-turned on: - Andrade Almas. The second he turned heel I was completely behind him. - Austin Aries, who I thought was amazing in TNA in 2012, then shit in NXT, and have seen nothing since. - Neville, again as soon as he turned heel. - Rusev, at more or less the same time this whole forum flipped on him. - I hated Batista, and he's actually the focus of a total change in how I viewed wrestling. The 2008 Rumble, where the last three men in the match are Triple H, Cena and Bats. Each man poses, and Batista gets almost as big of a pop, from a New York crowd, and I suddenly realised that all that really matters with a wrestling talent is being safe and over. Everything else is secondary, when before that I was only really a workrate fan. - I still love strong style wrestling, but that's mainly because guys only tend to stiff each other when they get along rather than when they don't these days. I used to hate stiff guys and still do if there's nothing mutual going on. - I loved hardcore wrestling. The bloodier the better. I grew up watching Mick Foley and latter-day ECW, after all. But I rapidly realised that it was a fast track to a bunch of guys being old, broken-down and was just way too dangerous. Same with any blood, really. Wrestling is fake. Either hardway happens by accident or use fake blood, it's ridiculous to actually bleed. Same with shots to the head. - I thought Kofi would suck on the mic forever and never amount to anything truly worthwhile outside of midcard geek. I think he still has a load of potential upside for the future, but he's already far surpassed that since the New Day began, I was wrong about him.

Cena. I've come to realize (and it's a point I now make often) that he is going to be looked back on as someone who people really didn't appreciate enough during his run
