I mean Batman is DC's main draw their only real chance of making that $200 million back is slapping his name all over it. They'll probably need at least $400m to cover the marketing expenses too.

It'll be more than that. There's not a prayer that Affleck and Keaton don't have gross points on the box office. Presumably Miller too, since when they were cast they were a Warner Bros. darling.

I mean, if it's done, just throw it up on HBO Max, let Netflix buy the international rights or whatever and call it a day. Like, look, regardless on what we think about Miller, their actions shouldn't override everybody else's work, right? It'd be silly to do that. Michael Keaton taking on the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne for the first time in 30 years is going to be enough to get people to movie theaters. There's a whole generation of people who grew up with that movie and will gladly pay whatever. Even if you have to refocus a lot of marketing on that fact, you don't throw this thing on HBO Max. They'd be leaving a pretty significant amount of money on the table. Recast Ezra after the fact, sure. When I was a kid, we had a bunch of dime store public domain cartoon VHS’s, ET and Batman until VHS started getting cheaper. I grew up on the Keaton Batman, he’s the reason I’m a comic fan. I am absolutely gonna be going opening night 100% because of Michael Keaton. I feel that’s gonna be a pretty popular opinion amongst movie goers, it’s gonna be Keaton fans fueling the box office not Flash fans

I wore out like two or three copies of the tape. I am for sure going for that reason alone. There’s some weird catharsis with seeing him back.

More details on the test screenings (major spoilers for the end of the film) {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}The following make cameos
-Jeremy Irons -Gal Gadot -Jason Mamoa -Nikoaj Waldau -Christopher Reeve Superman -Helen Slater Supergirl -Linda Carter Wonder Woman
Half of the runtime includes Keaton
Scenes that received cheers/ovations:
1. The Barrys meeting Keaton 2. Keaton coming out in his Batsuit for the 1st time. 3. Young Barry seeing old Batmobile. 4. BatKeaton saying "You wanna get nuts?!" 5. Keaton taking over as THE Batman.
Nikolag's cameo is just a comedy spot where Barry steals a hotdog.
Reeve, Slater, Carter and West all appear when the flashpoint causes the continuum to collapse around Barry. An additional Superman character appears, but their face at the time of the screening was blurred out intentionally
Final act is a remake of Man of Steel only with Supergirl against Zod.
Back to the Future is referenced, apparently in the altered timeline Eric Stoltz was the star of the film as originally intended. Michael J Fox went on to star in Footloose.
The opening scene taps into the Quicksilver takes in X-Men movies, seeing Barry snack on food while saving falling babies from a damaged hospital.
Final scene is Barry winning his father's case and noticing Ben Affleck on his computer screens urging Barry to find him and the other heroes as they are trapped in another reality

I was wondering about that when they canceled Batgirl. I feel bad for Sasha, she left Young and the Restless for this role. Well, hopefully she'll be able to find something else easily enough.

There is also apparently 'no confidence' in Aquaman 2 I'd have confidence in Jason Momoa, he's not the best actor in the world but he's incredibly likeable and has a decent sized fanbase. it wont do avengers: endgame money but it'll probably do decent numbers.

Also I notice a lot of shit is leaking out since the Discovery+ earnings call... that... really just makes it looks like no one has any faith in Zaslav at the helm.

The man is notoriously cheap, quick to cancel anything that doesn't perform to expectation every single time, and is incredibly risk-averse. That might get you success in the realm of daytime TV, but he's in the movie business now – a business that isn't cheap, requires risk taking, and frequently has failures along the road to success. There's also the fact that since the earning's call WBD's stock price has cratered by more than 20%. I think the general feeling is Zaslav is way out of his depth.

I am a little curious what insider info and other metrics he has to state definitively that Batgirl would’ve made money while Flash would’ve tanked. Based on what I’ve read I certainly wouldn’t want to state either of those as facts

Based on what I’ve read I certainly wouldn’t want to state either of those as facts Batgirl was an HBO Max film so it can be hard to judge whether it is making you money. I mean if there are a lot of signups right before and after it drops you can attribute those to it. But who knows what other metrics they use to determine.
