My local theater finally put tickets on sale for this movie for internet pre-order today. I'm going through the available showtimes for the weekend (including Friday and Monday) and for the first I can ever remember the theater isn't offering any matinee showings for it. For reference, I saw GotG3, Across the Spider-Verse and Rise of the Beasts during their opening weekends all at matinee showings. This is just really weird. Does anybody know, could the local theater make this call? Or could this have been forced on them by WBD to get every last dollar they can out of it?

It opens here tomorrow and my local cinema has a good variety of screen times, but is doing significantly less screenings than Spiderverse is still getting, so I presume they don't expect it to do that well. A big movie usually gets more than they're giving The Flash. It's sold maybe 30 tickets over the four evening showings tomorrow.

Checking mine. I know there was a 3 PM matinee showing on Thursday, but Little Mermaid had more available viewings on opening day.

Y’all tdk haters need jesus I've got him. He actually agrees with me. Kurt Angle didn't make Him tap out, and neither did watching TDK Trilogy. As for my feelings...the Nolanverse is what it is. The parts that hold up hold up, the parts that didn't, don't. Its biggest crime was giving Zack Snyder Style a foot in the door. As WB execs figured, "TDK = realistic/grimdark = money" meant "ALL DC properties = realistic/grimdark = more money." Hence why we got the watered down Nolanverse that was the Snyderverse. And don't get me started how Ledger Joker (again he was what he was and I didn't hate it) means that all Jokers, movies and comics alike, have to be watered down versions of him. When I prefer my Joker to be more Hamill-like.

I'm looking at seating for the nearest theater near me and best I can tell I don't think they've sold a single Flash ticket. Checked pretty much every peak time from Thursday on and not a seat is taken.

I don't even want to see another Batman movie like those either.

Well, the leaks are leaking, and it ain't looking good. They certainly made some choices, and I'll leave it at that.
CGI's a mess, and it looks like the editing will be, too. When "this looks like a video game render" has become the go-to complaint about even otherwise good movies that are over reliant on CGI, it is a bold choice to have the camera swing behind your heroes in such a way that you can easily picture the life bars popping up at the star of a level.
I honestly expect this movie to get savaged online when it opens.

Think it will make more than Shazam 2?

Think it will make more than Shazam 2? In terms of box office it definitely will just because it'd have a tremendously hard time not doing so, though it's likely going to lose even more money than that one did with how high its budget is and how much WB's been going all out in advertising it.

I'm so conflicted because I want to see this.... but I don't want to support Ezra Miller.

Box office tracking has been consistently flat so far, just hasn't picked up the kind of hard momentum you'd want to really make a difference.
So, maybe, something around $70 million opening? Which already is in the realm where it'd be depending on good holds over the weeks to make a profit at the cinemas.
Will easily beat Shazam 2, though, it's low key amazing how hard that one flopped.

Especially since the Dark Knight sucks. Seriously, that whole trilogy is terrible. Finally someone says it. My favorite Batman movie unironically is Forever. So my opinion isn't the best.. But the first and third movies of the trilogy sucks once you start thinking about it for over are pretentious slogs. Dark Knight is only slightly better, but it really kinda sucks once you start thinking about it for more than two seconds. Those movies came out over ten years ago and it's crazy how much influence they still have over the tone for DCU films, when really when they just let some of these films stand on their own like Wonder Wonder or actually have fun like Shazam is when DC was at its best.

Honestly think most super hero movies fall apart under close scrutiny. Kinda goes with the comic book suspension of disbelief I guess. So that kind of stuff never hurt my like of Begins and Dark Knight.
Rises on the other hand was a pile of garbage. Not sure what pissed me off more in that movie, Bruce deciding that all crime is now over and he can retire or when Alfred decides to leave. I do remember shaking my head in disbelief as I left the theater muttering "his f-ing name was Robin....?.... F off."

I'm not sure what baffles me more on Dark Knight Rises, its complete failure to understand how money works or how the whole prison subplot only makes sense if Gotham has a desert wasteland district.

There's a video going around of the two Flashes and Supergirl facing off with Zod and the Kryptionians. I'm pretty sure it's an official release, but I haven't followed the marketing closely enough to know for sure.
Anyway, the CGI and everything about the scene looks awful. It's like a PS3 cut scene. It looks so much worse than similar scenes in Man of Steel, despite Man of Steel being 10 years older. I hate comparing movies like this, but as so much of the scene is directly based on Man of Steel, I think it's fair in this case. And I'm not holding up Man of Steel as an example of exemplary movie-making and effects either, but it makes The Flash look like a CW show.

What baffles me is someone edited that movie, heard the final version of Bane's voice, and was like "yeah this is totally acceptable."
