Mixing characters/story that doesn't matter because the entire universe is starting over with one-off cameos (most of which being spoiled by the trailers) only really there to pop audiences probably doesn't make the film an easy sell. I guess good on them for actually releasing the thing, but seems like a DC "Morbius"-type deal to me.

How much of a bath are we talking about for them? Going by word about this production and advertising budgets plus the 2.5 rule at this point in time they’d likely need bare minimum $375 million more to break even. Very real chance this is going to supplant John Carter as the biggest bomb of all time. |

I just got back from watching the Flash with a buddy and I had a good time. I still believe that you should not start with Flashpoint, but it's an enjoyable movie anyways. I'm okay that this expanded universe is going away, the story told in this movie was a complete one and I had a good time.
I still think Keaton should have been Thomas but I thought their explanation for why he was Bruce was pretty good and internally consistent.

My friends wife has asked me to get him out of the house tomorrow because he’s been annoying and I asked him if he wanted to go to a movie. He picked The Flash. I am very unhappy with my friend’s wife right now.

This is gonna make less than Black Adam, and not much more than Shazam 2.
Keaton and Supergirl (since people have been saying Supergirl was awesome in it) may be the reasons it isn't behind Shazam 2.

What I hate most about when movies and shows bomb like this is that the clueless corporate execs inevitably take away all the wrong lessons from it. "Let's see...The Flash, Black Adam, and Shazam 2 all failed miserably. People clearly don't like lightning-themed characters, so we're implementing a lightning ban in all future superhero film projects."

The film is estimated to only make $15.3 million in its second weekend, dropping all the way to third behind Spider-Verse and Elemental, and dropping off a jaw dropping(and for execs, pants shitting) 72%.
