Zack Ryder beat Jinder Mahal clean on Main Event this week

No particular reason to mention that other than I thought it was interesting given that Jinder Mahal was the WWE Champion this time last year.

That is definitely a huge fall from grace not with just him being World Champion just last year but also when you consider that he was in a main event program with Roman just last summer.

Even guys we always throw shade on for being dodgy world champions and tumbling down the card after their reigns, like Ziggler, Swagger and Khali... None of them fell this hard so fast. Ziggler in 2014? Still around that IC/US/fringe main eventer/MITB contender level that he's almost always been. Swagger in 2011? Same goes. Khali in 2008? He'd just come off fighting for the world title again at SummerSlam and was just about to turn face. Mahal's almost properly back into being an enhancement guy (double meaning not intended).

I dont even think you can say he was booked weak(Like Swagger was). He looked pretty dominant in his victories. He was always going for the cheap LOOK AT MY CRAZY PASSPORT heat but..even when he tried otherwise it was just...bad.

Honestly, Zack Ryder should have gotten the Jinder push. He too has transformed his physique quite a bit (not quite as dramatically as Jinder, but also looks to have done it...cleaner), but I wonder what Zack would do with a heel turn. If he could harness the bitterness from years of bumping on the glass ceiling, he'd be a tremendous heel.

I can't think of such a steep drop down the card for someone in that short of time. Swagger was a guy that came to mind as a possibility but he was booked like a loser even when he was champion and even when he was losing for the most part post title reign it was at least mainly to babyfaces who were high on the card (Rey, Sheamus, Orton etc.). I don't recall them having him lose on Main Event to a glorified enhancement guy who is never on the main shows like Jinder now has.

Problem with Ryder is that he doesn't have the physicality in ring to make it work as a high level heel despite now having the size/physique to pull it off. Even though I've always thought he was a decent enough worker my biggest problem with him was his offense, mainly his strikes, just always looked too soft for me. If he were to turn heel it would probably be more in a goofball lower midcard role like how he was used in 2009-2010 before his face turn.

Jinder’s downfall in my opinion came when his backne started bleeding profusely after he took a bump, that was the first time when the camera actually had to turn away and not zoom at him for portions of the match.

Then he developed frontne and roidtits, it got to a point that the camera just wasn’t able to zoom anywhere near Jinder through the duration of his match.

Yeah, like, Bray obviously lost a lot of relevancy in how he was used after the Orton feud, but he still remains way higher tier than Jinder.

Man that's sad. Besides being the world champion just a year ago the guy actually won the US Title at WM 6 months ago. He was in a Reigns program just 4 months ago. Just goes to show that if they don't use you, they'll do whatever. He was just doing something on Raw a few weeks ago feuding with Balor. That's great for Ryder though but man booking has been disappointing in general. I remember just 2 years ago SDL THE place. Raw's been getting better but still. With this Roman thing, we'll see where it goes.

And I also approve of the "Ryder should have gotten a huge push" comment. I remember years ago around 2011-2012 I (and some others) were pushing for Ryder to take over the "ultimate good guy" position from Cena. Next thing you know he's simped out. Dude could have been something. To this day Ryder's one of those Lost Generation stars that could have been far more than he is today.

Jinder's back to where he belongs really. The dude just plain isn't good enough to operate at a prominent level.

Though to be fair this isn't necessarily a death sentence for him. I mean, Miz went from main-eventing Mania to being seemingly demoted to just a commentator for awhile and losing clean to Santino on a preshow, and look where he is now.

This is the part where I point out that Jinder doesn't have much going for him in the ring either. You would think he would have some good power moves to compliment his new physique, but the Khallas rarely ever looks that good and I can't think of much else Jinder even does aside from his decent knee lift.

Since he was a jobber before the title... didn't get over at all... the experiment was a pretty massive failure and now he is back where he started.

The dodgier champions usually fell back where they were too... the difference was the dodgier champions weren't career jobbers... they were mid to upper mid carders.
