Alex Bregman has signed a 5 year $100 million extension.
6 years
Players are getting that money while they can. $100 million isn't nothing to sneeze at and it only buys out his first 2 FA years

MLB is desperate for star players with the older fans dying off and the game struggling to get younger fans interested. Unfortunately, the best player in the game is also not interested in being a celebrity, and it's hard to market the face of your league when he's a reluctant participant. Harper is at least less spotlight-adverse than Trout. For baseball's sake, hopefully Betts and Judge feel similarly to Harper.

The thing is Judge is reserved like Trout but he embraces his spotlight in NY and as the guy and face of the Yankee team. Trout just doesn't want that spotlight but Harper embraces it fully and I think Mookie will too as he should seeing a lot more TV thanks to his MVP

My bad, MLB Instagram said it was a 5 year extension. It's not just players getting their cash, it's teams getting damn good stars locked up. And Bregman probably wants to stay on a team that has a great chance to be a dynasty. Fantastic young player, who has the personality of a star. Watch the guy on stuff like GameDay, the dude is charismatic, markets himself, and enjoys doing the media work. Judge will take the top spot from Bryce soon, but Bregman will be one of it's top stars soon. Don't know if Mookie will follow the path of Bryce, Judge, and Bregman, or be more like Trout.

So...Harper allegedly took less $ so that the Phillies can sign free agents only for Trout to sign the biggest deal in sports history 2 weeks later. Now he rots in Philly for the next 13 years, crazy.

I like Alex Bregman a lot, too. And personally speaking, I like seeing more prominent Jewish athletes get the spotlight.

Their starting pitching and bullpen are weak, even if Castillo breaks out which I think he can. Their line-up is pretty good though. Puig has never been a huge power guy, with 51 HRs in his last 900 ABs. Then again, the same could be said about Yelich before he went to Miller Park. I think Puig tops out at 32-36 HRs even in Cincy. And then there's his hammy issues.

Thank you, Ichiro.
Dee's bow and Ichiro's "No" was hilarious, nice moment between those 2. And damn, King Felix was a wreck, that was obvious that he had been bawling, and then immediately going to the clubhouse after the hug. Since 2001, at least one of them has been there for the Mariners. One of them has been Seattle baseball every year, for 18 years.

The finalized deal, per ESPN's Jeff Passan, is five years for $145 million with an opt-out after three years, a vesting sixth-year option based on stats worth at least $20 million, and a no-trade clause beginning in the middle of the 2020 season. All told, that's a very fair deal for both sides. Chris Sale gets the money he deserves as a top-of-the-rotation starter and Boston gets its ace for the foreseeable future. Obviously there are concerns with Sale's checkered injury history and the fact that he turns 30 in a matter of days, but I have confidence that this deal will pay off for at least the first three years and then we'll see how it goes after the potential opt-out.

Yea, injury history and the fact he always fades the last 2 months of the season is a big worry but they just won a chip and all in all it's a fair deal
Overall value less than what they paid Price on the open market too so even if only get 3 years, that's still 3 more years of a top flight pitcher in Sale
