Nah I’m sorry but Ali is as generic as they come. He’s great in the ring but he has zero personality. He’s basically Indian Seth Rollins.
Neville had IT. He could have been in the world title scene if they just took the plunge and called him back up. He carried 205 for ages and as we saw in NXT, he was capable of having those “big” matches and feuds. Look at his feud with Sami Zayn and tell me he couldn’t carry a world Title feud.

I disagree. Ali has star value but I think Neville does too, and I think primarily timing is the only reason that Ali is there and Neville isn't. If Neville was still around for WWE's current panic mode I'm sure he'd have a place on the main roster as well. I think Ali has a higher ceiling in my opinion. He has the ability to make more personal connections with the audience. Being a baby face that actually makes a strong personal connection with the audience other than “whoa he does cool moves!” is probably the most valuable commodity in wrestling due to how rare it is these days. I agree with your assessment on him, he's one of my favorite guys on the roster, but I just don't see it as a case of "why him and not Neville?" If WWE had a need to scrounge for talent when Neville was around, he'd surely be on the roster too. They had ample time to move Ali up, he's been great for a long time, it's not like he just now set the world on fire and they're rolling with it, they're just hard up for fresh faces and he's still on the payroll. |

I was digging him before, but his facial selling of "Holy f***, I just pinned Bryan clean!" completely sold me on the dude. Strap a rocket to him.

Yep, you let him cut these kinds of promos and do his thing and he'll be at least Seth Rollins over. It probably won't happen because it's not in a ring, he's pausing for dramatic effect instead of every second word, he's clearly written it himself, and he's not including "WWE universe" in every third sentence. But good god is this a great sign of what someone can do without creative hampering their personality. |

He just comes off so well, so real. If they keep up his booking and give him moments, I could see him really connecting with the crowd. He is also really well spoken and could do press for them easily. |

Smackdown Live did give us Shinsuke and Samoa Joe choking constantly, but it also gave use Mella and Truth, The New Daniel Bryan and The Man.

Just listened to his interview with Lilian Garcia and damn , he has one hell of a story. he talked about how he reluctantly did a sterotypical anti American gimmick which got him more bookings , but he realized that he was contributing to a system which encouraged negative sterotypes and stopped doing it .
