There was a time, I guess the late 80's / early 90's, you have a hit movie, milk that cash cow for what it is worth and turn it into a TV series. From Harry and the Hendersens, to Uncle Buck, to Ferris Butler's Day Off, it seemed anything can be turned into a TV series. And that is not including movies turned into cartoons like Ghostsbusters, though this tread is mainly about live action tv shows.
One idea that surprsed, not saying it would have worked, but Home Alone. That was a big hit, and no TV producer / TV network, tried to cash in?

TIL that any of those shows existed.
Sin City could have made a pretty good TV show, either the original stories or stories inspired by it. Probably would work best as a shorter length HBO series.
O' Brother Where Art Thou - the greek mythology meets the Great Depression American south idea could easily be expanded on into a show I think
Inception - the going into people's dreams thing could operate like the Stargate or the Star Trek transporter does, an easy way to put your characters into any setting and situation imaginable. SFX would have to be toned down though.
Boondock Saints could easily be turned into a TV show
Apparently the 4th Home Alone movie was meant to be a pilot for a TV show, but it was terrible and went no where.

second is this ..... an ARNOLD SWARZENEGGER UNIVERSE!!! starting off with how JOHN MATRIX got his groove on, going on to tell about his OTHER characters too, but that's not all AT ALL!!! last night i had this wacky idea of REDOING ALIEN .....
and i've never posted that idea before!

Was there a Mr Mom tv series or not, I vaguely think there was, but I am not sure. At the very least like Problem Child it was pitched.

Seriously, a woman working and a man staying at home is not big of a deal as it was in the 80's. So why? You know what now that I think of it, there was a Mr Mom sitcom in the 80's, it was called Growing Pains.

There should have been a Scent of a Woman sitcom in the 90s. Maybe starring Don Johnson or Joe Mangtegna as Colonel Frank Slade.

It has been talked about and the movie was a failure but I think a proper Dark Tower series could be done if the creators actually respected the source material..There is so much there for multiple seasons

Spider-Man is much better suited to a tv series than a movie given the amount of supporting characters, his huge rogue gallery and the number of stories that could be good about him.

Funny I was talking about this movie on another thread, but I just thought of this.
Desperately Seeking Susan, it could have worked as a weekly series as long as it is set in the 80's and prefreably made in the 80's. In the movie, it is establish that the title character Susan is this wild child that lives their crazy life and often spontanously go on these adventures, so every episode would be another one of her wacky adventures. And unlike the movie she would be the main character. I am not sure what I would do with Rosanna Arquette's character, I might just have Susan meet another bored house wife whose life she influences. Though I wonder if they could license "Into The Groove" or not. I wonder why in the late 80's no one tried it.

I’d kill for a Harry Potter TV show. For real. I remember like, at least a decade ago, IGN released a trailer on their site for a show called "The Aurors". It looked like a police procedural, but with wizards. I was so stoked. ...then I checked the comments, looked at the date, and realized it was all an April Fool's joke. I'm still salty about it.

A couple of years ago I heard they were going to make a Problem Child series pilot, I wonder what happened, was a pilot ever shot? If they do a series, I would do one of two things, either cast Jason Ritter as Ben Healy Jr., or cast Michael Oliver (the actor that played Junior) as a grown up Junior raising his own kid who is the new problem child.

I don't know how long since Michael Oliver acted, but maybe he would come out of retirement to do that. And I said his own kid, I didn't say if it was a boy or a girl. Hmm, that be interesting if they changed the gender a bit, don't know if it would be the same. The whole dynamic of the movie was the father / son relationship.

Blade Runner always had potential for wider stories. No way would it have been feasible in the '80s or '90s, though.

If anything we could have gotten Dallas Roberts to play Ben Healy Jr for a TV Series as a homage to John considering how he looks so much like the late actor...
