I know there is a thread somewhere, but damned if I can find it. Kelly is officially in deep trouble now. The previous charges were heinous, but state based. This time, it’s two counts of sex trafficking, which is a FEDERAL crime. Hope he enjoyed his freedom because, if convicted, it’s pretty unlikely he will ever see the outside of a prison again. First Jeffrey Epstein and now R.Kelly. I'm wondering who else will go down next?

Feds supposed to have over 20 sex tapes with minors in their possession I want to like this because I'm happy the feds have them, but liking it also feels skeevy because they shouldn't have to be in possession of this to begin with.

Feds supposed to have over 20 sex tapes with minors in their possession So we're going for the "so guilty, he's going under the jail." option.

I assume this is one of those things where they probably want to have so much evidence they could bury him in it and considering the rumors of their being more sex tapes around they wanted to have it all if it existed If they have these tapes plus people testifying their is no way he should escape this. The fact they detained hopefully means he's not seeing the light of day anymore and no other fan can come to his rescue

I think this was they saw what he did when they only had one tape (which should have been enough) so their response is to bury him under evidence.

Meaning when their was the one tape, you couldn't fully identify the girl as underage and needed her to testify but she had chosen not to so that threw a wrench in things Now, they have an abundance of tapes and while they most likely can't bring everyone young woman in question to testify. Whoever turned those tapes over will testify plus the fact that their should be so much evidence you can overwhelm his team and force them into a deal so Kelly doesn't get the max but does do significant jail time

Feds supposed to have over 20 sex tapes with minors in their possession Here’s a horrifying thought - one girl per tape or multiple? It’s awful either way, but the magnitude is just off the scale if the latter. Do. Not. Let. Him. Go. Free. This is an animal who should never see free daylight again.

The prosecution: "Mr. Kelly, here's how it is....
ONE! We got evidence! TWO! It's on videotape! THREE! Several more people have come forward! You're gonna stop and go no further!"

Ive got a horrible feeling both he and Epstein will walk.
The rich and famous can get away with anything. Bryan Singer still isn't a blacklisted name in Hollywood and everyone knows what hes like.
Kelly will walk.

Kelly will walk. I don't see Kelly walking this time, not sure yet with Epstein. R. Kelly's got nowhere near the power he once did, he's looking at considerably more serious charges than he was last time, and it's going to be a lot harder to beat the rap for multiple tapes than it was for just the one. It's possible that he beats one or some of the charges, but beating all of them is too tall an order for him at this point, likely.

Kelly will walk. Kelly does not have the financial backings to support his case at a strong level and while he still may have fan support, the industry has seemingly finally put him on the shit list so I don't see him getting that help to be able to walk away

I caught myself singing the remix to Ignition today and immediately felt gross about it. That was such a big song for me back in the day, but this sick motherf***er ruined that. And don’t get me started on “I Believe I Can Fly.” The classic song from my favorite childhood movie.
It sounds like a slam dunk case to me, but we’ll wait and see. If the allegations are true, this dude needs to go away for a long long time.

It has consistently blown my mind that in America there is a level of good you can be at something that you can literally get away with murder, let alone anything else, and that scumbags like R. Kelly have fallen under that umbrella. Even Chapelle poking fun at R. Kelly was just treated as a silly "That rascal R. Kelly, hahaha." just because Remix to Ignition is a fire ass song. We have BEEN knowing about this shit so I apologize for not exactly being heartened by this news. Better late than never, I guess. That’s what bothers me about this whole thing. People have been making fun of Kelly being a pedophile for over 20 years. In that time famous people have worked with him (Jay-Z, Fat Joe, among others) and somehow until that series came out he was just a punchline to a joke rather than a criminal. Hopefully this is the end of his freedom but who knows at this point. The people who found him not guilty last time should feel like crap for everything he has done since.

Like you said, if this were individual cases like before, you could get a good lawyer who doesn’t care about reputation to prove them wrong or spin it on your side and R Kelly seemed to have been lucky in that regard. This is an entirely different situation now and honestly can’t see it going any other way but jail time.

Hopefully this is the end of his freedom but who knows at this point. The people who found him not guilty last time should feel like crap for everything he has done since. I was thinking yesterday about the Chappelle’s Show stuff. “Piss on You” was a joke song about R. Kelly urinating in women, ignoring the fact that it was underage girls he was pissing on. I love Dave and Chappelle’s Show is an all-time Classic, but I do have to blame him and that song for altering the narrative a little bit. It wasn’t “R. Kelly is a child molester”. It became “that weirdo R. Kelly likes to pee on people.” It made it a joke. Plus to be honest people didn’t take actions and comments sexualizing children as seriously back then. As evidenced by a number of stories involving high profile celebrities/politicians in recent years.
