Noticed there was never a thread about this and wonder if we are able to talk about it on here. If not feel free to lock it up
Yea, that was a crazy watch. This is stuff we have known for 20 years but it’s all finally coming back to bite him in the ass.

I haven't watched, but I know all about the allegations.... well, who doesn't.
But I have to ask, why are people still supporting the guy and going to his concerts? In fact, why is it only just becoming a major issue now? I remember back when I was 13/14 a video been shared around school of him with an underage girl. That must have been back in 2001/2002? Even now people are still buying tickets for his shows. Why?

No one in the mainstream is talking about the weird Drake and Millie Bobby Brown ish and that happened recently. This R. Kelly stuff shouldn’t be news to any of us unless you’re like..a teenager. Even then, Maybe. But this has definitely blown it up to the point of not ignoring. Buncha people are finally having to back peddle their support of him recently like Gaga. Artists like Jay Z given heat for supporting him over the last few years. Even Nick Brennan brought up that apparently Kellly and his dudes tried to confront Dave Chappelle over the skits back in the day haha.. Anyway. I didn’t watch the latest thing. Just heard snippets. But I’ve seen specials about it before and it’s clear the guy is f***ed up. He was abused as a kid and it’s messed him up and he’s treated a whole lotta girls like..worse than dirt. It should be catching up to him.

This isn't exactly news especially when it has been the butt of jokes like Dave Chappelle with the Pee on You video
The music industry doesn't expel their own. At least with the movie industry they have gotten rid of people like Weinstein and Spacey but R Kelly was never condemned for these allegations that have not been a secret. He was with Aaliyah when she was 15, had that video with the girl who was 14 or 15. Hell, even last year the whole cult shit about him having girls living with him seemed to be partially true based upon the documentary
It took for the documentary to come out but he's starting to get shut out

The rape tape should have ended his career.
And "Age Ain't Nothing But A Number" was a pretty clear example of "hiding in plain sight"

I'd personally be suspicious of any man who gives his phone number to a what, 13/14 year old? Yet somehow we're supposed to just let it slide.

Lady Gaga's decision to work with him is bewildering considering she was 26 at the time and mature enough to know what she was doing and had plenty of time to be aware of all the shit he had already done. Further ironic that just two years later, she's tearfully singing a song about sexual assault. That's comparable to "Hillary Swank In Chechnya" levels of wilful dipshittery.

A few places online give Aubrey shit for it but other than that, zilch, you don’t hear shit about it. A 32 year old man texting a teenager about shit. Like WTF. I’m 30. I cannot in any circumstance imagine myself texting a teenager about ANYTHING. It’s creepy. It’s weird. It totally seems like some “grooming” shit.

The cult of celebrity has aided in the idea that no one should ever be held accountable for their actions. People will go to their grave defending guys like Kelly or Bill Cosby. Even being adjacent to notoriety builds a cult around folks. A guy on Twitch assaulted his wife on stream and his subs went up. People knew, everyone knew R. Kelly was who he was, but no one did anything. Every person who didn't say something, who didn't act to help those girls, who continued to collaborate. They all share a portion of the blame. No one wants to rock the boat or risk their own pocketbooks. At best they're cowards, at worst they're accomplices. Dude should've been locked up.

I knew all about the underage girls (and Aaliyah specifically), the video, and his... proclivities regarding bodily functions, but I *will* say that the sex cult thing he has going on was a new one to me. Not that it was surprising in the sense of who we're dealing with, I just didn't think about his issues manifesting in that specific way.
Because I'm not a creep.
But yeah, that was the one thing that I hadn't expected. I think outside of that, it was just the sheer volume of women coming out with essentially the same story, even though they didn't know one another/weren't allowed to speak, that was the affecting part. You can know something but to have such a large number telling their story all at once is going to move you in a different way, and drive home the point even further.
Something needs to be done. Something needed to be done years ago.

A part of me wants to say a 35 year old woman should know better BUT the man is a predator and knows how to prey on the minds of individuals so they bend to him. It's crazy to hear a 35 year old woman say she has to tap on the upstairs door until he hears her and allows her to come out her room
It's a f***ing mind trip. She was able to snap out of it and leave of her own free will but these little girls he brainwashed at 16 and 17 years old are loyal to him and won't break away from him now that they passed that threshold of 18 years old and are legally adults and can do what they want

Hollywood crowed about #metoo at the Oscars, what, last year?,meanwhile a whole bunch of them gave Roman Polanski a standing ovation back in 03, YEARS after the shit with him was well known and he fled the country. And then there's Weinstein.....

Boondocks was ahead of this shit years ago, too, criticizing especially his defenders and sycophants.
Huey Freeman's words never rang truer.

I expect to see more stuff like this brought back to light in this day and age due to the reaction it gets on social media. We’ve seen it work like a lynch mob to drum people out of their jobs. These types of projects will also draw ratings due to all the buzz on social media that it will bring them. What’s surprising to me is that his album sales have increased since. I was never a fan of the guy. There’s so much shady stuff out there about him that I’m surprised he’s still working.

I wanna know how on earth Gaga let them put in a part to the video of that where R Kelly puts her to sleep and then says "When you wake up you'll be pregnant" How could that POSSIBLY go through several people and none of them think "Maybe this is a stupid idea"?

For those that know, was there ever any reaction or fallout about that Boondocks episode? Or the fact that the episode talked about it, but more used it as a jumping off platform for other things, kept it off the radar?
As to R Kelly confronting Dave Chappelle, who does Ja Rule side with?
