The plot is pretty basic as it gets , but the banter between Rock & Statham is what makes this movie worth watching. Idris is great also as is Vanessa Kirby. IMO this the best movie in this franchise since fast five ** Spoilers ** the 2 cameos by Hart & Reynolds were absolutely hilarious , I hope this is Hobbs new crew for sequels to this spinoff or even if he returns to the main franchise. One thing which wasnt addressed in this where was Owen Shaw , why wasnt he mentioned at all ? I am not sure if Luke Evans was busy or not, but I do recall Helen Mirren's character mentioning Owen in passing when Deckard went to visit her. However, it would have been better if Hattie had mentioned Owen as well. Evans is one of the leads in Roland Emmerich's upcoming movie about the Battle of Midway, which was filmed at the same time as Hobbs & Shaw.

For those wondering about Roman Reigns' role: {Spoiler}It's pretty small and it's largely spent standing beside the Rock, plus spearing one of the bad guys. He has no lines aside from doing the "OOOOOO-AHHHHHH" roar.

I thought it was a live action video game. It was fun for what it was.

Kind of hard telling how viable of a franchise this is going off the box office - had a fairly strong, though not gigantic, worldwide debut while the domestic one while solid wasn't really anything special, and either way is likely to be one of the lowest-grossing movies in the series.
Probably just going to depend on what the multiplier ends up being.

It’s exactly what you want in a popcorn flick - nonstop action and a few laughs along the way.
The chemistry between The Rock and Jason Statham is good, Idris Elba makes for a fine villain and Vanessa Kirby might be the best part of the movie.
The cameos are all pretty great, too.
And if you’ve ever wanted to see Roman Reigns spear or Samoan drop somebody on the big screen, this is the movie for you.
As long as you don’t intend to ask too many questions about the plausibility of some of the plot or some of the big action scenes, you will enjoy it.

This made me want to see Idris Elba as a Bond villian. He was really good, IMO. Also, I'm going to be that guy..... Vanessa Kirby is gorgeous!

These two lines sum up the entire franchise and why I absolutely love going to see them

Hattie Shaw is the shit. So far, Owen's been the weak link of the Shaws.
I'm convinced they only gave Statham and Rock notes about their scenes, and most of their dialogue was them improv. As well as Rock's interactions with a certain cameo, and Rock and Statham's interactions with another cameo.

Just seen it. Really enjoyed it. Wasn't too keen on the final act however, as it felt like a Rock indulgence rather than critical to the story.
