Ken Anderson, the man was a great heel in the beginning of his TNA career and when he was in Aces and 8s, but his babyface runs damaged his character. That asshole gimmick and the way he won the world title def hurt him badly
Aces and Eights brought him back up and then they turned him face again and it went bad

I agree about Anderson. The asshole thing was bad. It was great for that one line in the promo against Angle but than trying to make it into a Stone Cold like gimmick surrounding it was terrible. Than calling his fans all of his asshole was cringed.

Yea, saying you're an asshole is a fun one off line but to make that your whole gimmick is just dumb when repeating stupidly thank god i'm an asshole
Both title reigns ended up being a month with him doing nothing with it

OG Sin Cara. From the biggest star in Mexico to a botch machine that wouldn’t bother to try to learn English, was wellness’d and eventually just gave up. And got stomped out by Del Rio in the ring because he dislocated his finger during his entrance Alberto kicking the shit out of him for trying to quit because of a broken finger is some of the funniest stuff ever. I would have loved to have seen Vince when they came back through the curtain.

It was the weirdest thing because you can see Sin Cara in pain and the ref trying to check on him but ADR is so pissed off he's like f*** it i'm going to get my digs in right now
Vince was probably dumbfounded like what the f*** was that not knowing of their prior history

I think Yoshihiro Takayama should’ve been bigger but injuries and always getting his ass kicked in mma killed any major appeal.
Katsuyori Shibata. He should’ve been in the same level as Tanahashi and Nakamura. Unfortunately he got mauled in mma, then had to retire very young because of the injury.
f*** inokism that’s all I gotta say.

Talking weight wise not height I think he’s heavier than the first two and about the same size as Punk. Daniels was twenty years too soon. I wonder if he could be considered like Billy Graham, you know except the lying and the steroids. I think I'd agree with this. I think if he was 15 years younger he would definitely be in With a shot of hitting the top in the E today. Unfortunately during his absolute prime from an in ring point of view McMahon was still obsessed with guys with a fundamentally different look.

Ken Anderson had more issues than his Asshole promos, he performed moves in a dangerous way to make it 'look more real' and big names in the WWE hated working with him, same issues as Ryback.
If both were coming up through developmental now, they'd have the world at their feet, but they were 10 years too early.

Maybe. He had a great look, presence and decent in the ring, but I always thought he stalled in front of the mic. That didn't bode well for him in the era of big personalities that he came up in. Among people like Hogan, Flair, Sting, Rude, Hennig... I don't see Kerry being top drawer talent. I think he was just right at the I-C/US title level. Hard to say because "stalled in front of the mic" may have very well been synonymous with "in no condition to work" and there's really no way of knowing what percentage of the time he was messed up. Pretty much impossible to tell what a 100% clean and sober Kerry could've been capable of. Sober Kerry was just as bad as Stoned Kerry in a lot of ways that matter in wrestling.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard anything about Sober Kerry, that sounds like saying a skinny Tommy Dreamer or a smart AJ Styles.

Damn. Pretty damn raw and pretty damn good. Yeah, many bring it up as one of the best wrestling promos ever, and I think it's true. I actually thing the fact it isn't perfectly polished helps it feel much more real, and well, given everything he is saying, it is pretty real. It's definitely a good example of bringing "shoot" aspects of a wrestler into a story tastefully and not in an undermining way like it often is.

He went to BML. That was what hurt him. Being mauled in MMA was just a small step down for him. Until you mentioned bml I had no idea what it meant, can you elaborate on that company? Basically, BIG MOUTH LOUD was a New Japan "off shoot" promotion created by Fumihiko Uwai, who may or may not be a money loundry guy for the yakuza, that run in 2005 and 2006 before closing doors making only 8 shows. Their idea was basically "We're New Japan, only not" and to accomplish that Uwai pried away both Shibata and Kazunari Murakami from New Japan, off of their hot runs as part of the Makai Club. Aside from them the roster was composed of "nobodies" like Katsumi Usuda and Manabu Hara (who was pried away from small shoot-style promotion BattleArts). The shows themselves usually focused on Shibata and Murakami facing off other big names (Kojima, Sasaki, MiSu, etc.) and people from legit sports (sumo wrestler Alan Karaev, MMA fighter Hidetaka Monma), with the undercard being filled by a checklist of usual suspects for these kind of shows/promotions (Fujiwara, Munenori Sawa, Don Arakawa, Yuki Ishikawa, Osamu Kido) and later with even cheaper freelancers and more comedy guys (Kikutaro, Sanshiro Takagi, Yoshitsune, Riki Sensyu, the then still not Voodoo Murders team of TARU, "brother" YASSHI and Shuji Kondo, etc.). Problems started to come up right at show number 4 after 3 supposed sellouts (2 of which on Korakuen Hall) and their show on ESPN-I (later ESPN-J) being the lowest rated show on the timeslots they were shown. It was clear that BML couldn't afford big expensive talent from elsewhere and their money was kind of limited. Shibata was struck to it, as he had a contract with Uwai's agency, meaning that Uwai was not only his boss but his manager as well. He fulfilled his obligations (ending his BML stint with a stinker against TARU) and went on to Uwai's next venture: UWAI STATION. Opposite to BML, UWAI STATION was a complete indy sleazefest with shitty wrestling all around. They could sometimes have a big name in there, but mostly you found the usual indy suspects doing their schtick. Shibata bailed on that after 2 shows and started to train MMA, at Uwai's "suggestion".
