As many of us suspected, they're clearly going the racial route without saying it. I'm trying to wrap my head around the kayfabe, here. In the WWE's fictional universe, you succeed by getting fans and having a good character.... NOT by winning matches?

Kofi is a part of a triple threat match to determine who faces Bryan at Mania. Vince comes out and tells him that the other participants in that match are......the rest of New Day. So basically the three of them have to damn near kill each other for a shot at the title. What's stopping Big E and Xavier from simply lying down and letting Kofi pin them?

Did this feud really need racial undertones? At least they are not being ..old school wwe about it.It is subtle.
At least WWE isn't doing " New Nation".

As someone who’s been looking at statistics in relation to winning streaks and such for a few years, you’d be surprised at how many lower card goobers just win and win and win without getting anywhere. Adam Rose once had a 25 match TV win streak, in 2014. ADAM ROSE. 25 STRAIGHT WINS! His only title shot in WWE ever, was in a 20 man battle royal for Rusev’s US belt.

You really think Big E or Xavier wouldn't kill for a WWE Title match at Wrestlemania? But they could have McMahon come and say that if anyone tries to lay down for Kofi or each other than YOU'RE FIRED!!!

You also made a point earlier in the thread about New Day including a subtle racial element to a lot of stuff they do, and it's definitely true. There's a really iconic phrase in my head that Big E once used on Twitter in a photo. I can't even remember who was in it at the time, it might have just been him and Sasha were both champions, but it just said 'Black excellence.' If this is WWE finally doing the Wrestlemania 19 angle correctly, I am 100% in. All of New Day and Rich Swann were in that too. The usual sort got in a huff over that tweet and it created a dumb ass "controversy" briefly. Yep. I think that was the official start of wrestling twitter's "Will Ospreay Shut Up Challenge" when him and Robinson both tweeted something like "I thought race didn't matter"

Big E and Woods both have said in and out of kayfabe that there goal is to make kofi Wwe champion. Not themselves

This nu-kayfabe stuff is exhausting to follow.

One touch I did like was the other babyfaces like Miz and AJ giving Kofi shout outs throughout the first hour - as well as showing more and more babyfaces watching Kofi on the monitor as the Gauntlet went on. That was really cool.

That was really cool. I kinda wish we got this kind of thing a little more often, stuff where people aren't so rigidly locked into only interacting with people they'd feuding with or about to feud with. It makes the "world" of WWE feel more fleshed out.

You know what I wouldn't mind? Stephanie overturns her dad. Why? One last f*** you to Bryan. Race ain't got nothing to do with it, she hates Daniel's guts.

I think they are doing the callback to Bryan’s occupy thing by taking over the ring until Vince gives him the match. Or, the babyfaces all show solidarity with him & “refuse” to work Mania holding Vince hostage.
Or, Kofi gets a bit physical with Vince and or Bryan which is what Vince wants to see from him and Vince grants him the match after seeing he can be a killer when he needs to be.

Good point, I've wanted the WWE to have more of a "shared universe" feel, and stuff like this is what I mean.
