I get that they wanted to free him up to be something closer to his fiery babyface roots, but that wasn't it. I felt like the more extreme face art while he was in WCW still actually looked better than the basic Crow makeup he started out with. It was a natural evolution of it. Even when he went with the red facepaint (because they were the red and black), it wasn't a problem with me. The problem became when he returned to TNA, and everyone was expecting Crow Sting, and instead he came out with his makeup looking more of a combination of Surfer Sting and Crow Sting with the red highlights, he had weird lightning patterns sewn into his tights, and he had a coat that looked like a marching band had an industrial accident in a streamer factory. It was off putting to me. Sting's marching band jackets SUCK!!! I thought I was the only one who hated them. Never understood why he abandoned the black leather jacket.

Ron Simmons wearing a blue Nerf helmet. Why? According to Bruce Prichard it was to cover Ron's receding hairline.

Wow I never paid attention to that either. Outside of the red and yellow color scheme WCW Hogan almost looked completely different then the Hogan you think of from his WWF days. Much leaner, no colored eyebrows the wristbands instead of wrist tape and for some reason all his WCW merchandise just looked like Dollar Store versions of his WWF merch. Don’t forget his WCW theme song being a rip off of “Real American” Cody Rhodes prefers Hogan's WCW theme over Hogan's iconic WWF theme. That is a unique opinion that I think Cody shares all to himself. Hogan's WCW theme was AWFUL.

Another vote for Neon Cowboy Savage. I think the star trunks were much cooler.Triple H when he started wearing the coloured trunks. Purple, red, etc all looked terrible. Punk when he started growing his hair out again and have the wolverine beard. Looked lazy. I agree with your sentiment, but then I remember Macho Man’s all-black latter era WCW get-up and I hate that even more.

Neon Cowboy & Star Trunk Macho were equally as great. His awful 1999 mid life crisis all black attire was most definitely not.

Because TBH, I actually liked his NWO gear, when he wore the bandana again and the frilled tights. That look worked well for him, both when it was black and white and red and black.

Macho switching from the trunks may have worked if he hadn't worn the cowboy hats. I never liked those.

Macho switching from the trunks may have worked if he hadn't worn the cowboy hats. I never liked those. The worst part of the hats were he was apparently financing them and not making the payments because one got repossessed.

Nakamura and his awful catsuit thing for me.
Dude had a truly brilliant look. And now he just looks like a goober. Which fits the booking at least.

Beast-mode '90 Hogan: Old Man '93 Hogan w/ yellow wrist bands, black brows and long hair: Personally, I think Hogan in '93 looked about ten years younger and so much healthier than Hogan '90. Puffy 'roid monster Hogan just looked like an old man wearing a bad muscle suit. When he stopped juicing he gained some actual muscle definition and looked more like an athlete.

I hated Repo Man's weird singlet he wore for a short period of time. C'mon, he got it on sale! In fact, you could say... it was a steal. (But yes, ugly) Moving on, I get the original reason why to distinguish himself from the Faker, but purple Undertaker in 1994 and 1995 took away some mystique. This, absolutely this. 6 year old me was a huge Taker mark but HATED the new look.

"Bat-Taker" from Survivor Series 96 seemed so cool to me as a kid, but has aged rather badly. And the blue denim vest in the ABA days did no favors for his physique at the time.

And if you watch his KOTR '93 promo, Jimmy Hart pretty much recites what would be the first verse of "American Made"

I dislike Kalisto's change to tights from pants. It makes him look like child pretending to fight.
