I'm no fan of Vince but are we all gonna ignore the part where the dude said he quit?

It’s hilarious that this turned into a shit on Vince and WWE thread, it was even suggested that dude should beat Vince’s ass, and the writer quit.

I'm no fan of Vince but are we all gonna ignore the part where the dude said he quit? He may or may not have been lying to 'save face'. Like that old trope of someone saying "you can't fire me, I quit!" like Bam Bam Bigelow did after his departure from the Million Dollar Corporation the night after Wrestlemania 11.

I mean with nothing further to go by there's no reason to think he didn't get chewed out or that this isn't a "You can't fire me, I quit" situation here, but sure yeah it's crazy how people are taking 'Vince doesn't like people mentioning him at the Hall of Fame and a writer took the fall for it' as a bad and crazy thing.

And how does this make Bret feel? He got a guy fired with his HOF speech, that would make anyone feel terrible. Bret seems like the kind of guy that would stand up for the dude so he doesn’t lose his job. It was the worst day of Bret Hart's life

So yeah, that's my official going theory for what happened here (until we get some sort of confirmation, which I'm sure Meltzer will give us for true. ) The guy musta rage-quit after Vince's last angry chewing-out.

Multiple sources confirmed with PWI that he was fired. You can believe what you want but I'm believing those sources including Waltman. Sounds like he did the "you can't fire me I QUIT" thing.
People were quick to not believe this on the first page even though it's something that fits in line with what we've known about Vince for decades so having PWI say something at least sheds light on things. I'm just not believing this dude compared to multiple sources.

...So DX are huge assholes who used someone's actual firing to get themselves over. Is it 1998?

It’s not new he doesn’t want mentioned at the HOF so no surprise there. My company has rules I may not agree with, but if I violate them I could be in trouble. And if you look at one of my first comments in this thread, I said there has to be more to this. So, believe it or not, you can enter this thread and NOT jump to “evil WWE”.

Yeah, Vince is a real butthole sometimes. Also, if DX really did a whole bit based off a guy getting fired, what does that say about them as people?

Sounds more like they were trying to save his job. Really? I didn't get that at all. They thought if they went overboard with it in their speech, Vince would lay off the other guy. Dilution.

Yep, it was a "you can't fire me, I quit" scenario as expected.
Dude had to make that decision quick as hell.

Honestly, I get it. If I really got cussed out over something as simple as someone saying "thank you" on a night that's supposed to be celebrating people within the industry, I'd be outta there. No job is worth your sanity.

Believe it or not you can also enter a thread where people are being critical of something stupid WWE is doing and not say "This boot tastes nice and also you guys are too mean to WWE". He's not even the one who said Vince's name, getting run out from his job of that is an insanely hasty and weird thing to go for, and Vince's bizarre fixations with things is insane. Every place has weird or disagreeable rules but these rules are legitimately f***ing bonkers and that's worth discussing.
