As f***ed up as this is, I kind of wonder how things would of went down if she did press charges or whatever? Back then everyone loved the US military and people probably would of brushed her story off unfortunately. Also as much of a POS Vince is for doing this, a lot more blame does need to go to the military This. Why is everyone mad about the WWE's role in this? If the WWE tried to go against the US military, the WWE would be out of business today. The problem/blame/CRIMINALS are the US Military and them alone here. Not Vince. I know it's popular to demonize Vince these days, but he probably made the right call not bringing this public. Also I can't imagine that Ron Simmons or whoever else was with Ashley on that tour did not get a chance to get some street justice on the fools who were on shore leave that violated Ashley. I bet they got the ass beating of their life by Simmons, who was a clear locker room leader back in those days.

Wonder if this is why they were so quick to post her post-lawsuit apology.

I never knew all the details of her assault. That’s an absolutely horrific nightmare. No wonder her depression was so bad. That’s heartbreaking stuff.

Went ahead retweeted that thread with John Oliver tagged in it. Probably will be overlooked but letting more people know about this alleged abuse would be nice. Even if it just means his people, or another journalist, investigates it and finds there's not enough to go on, at least a spotlight could perhaps kick up more dirt. Not trying to be malicious towards them for an alleged assault but I think we all know that this company has a ton of skeletons in their closet that should be more well known.

If the preverbial guilettene doesn't come down on WWE for this one I would be surprised , it may not come immediately but covering this up is beyond deplorable.

This is definitely a silver lining of how otherwise unnecessary social media can be. Things like this should not be left in the dark.

Wonder if this is why they were so quick to post her post-lawsuit apology. I thought that was a pretty scummy thing to do, days after she passed..

The rapist is the main bad guy certainly, but if it happened and WWE actively covered it up/encouraged an employee to keep quiet they're wrong too. It's not demonizing someone to say that covering up a rape is bullshit.

Well point to you for that, covering up rape is always a stupid idea even if it was Ashley's initial idea, Vince should've done something other than just sweeping it under the rug. I mean let's face it, Vince pulled Ashley out of her modeling life to win the Diva's Search, then thrust her in the ring as an untrained wrestler, flew her to the Middle-East without any valid form of protection and allowed her to be in a vulnerable situation where she was violated. He does share a fair bit of the blame I definitely misspoke.

WWE internet staff is always at the ready to post a positive story from a former employee, especially when a death of an employee (in this case the same person) is the topic of conversation. Hopefully this can gain traction and make business during the steroid trial look like WWF was Amazon or Apple. Those hurt emotionally, mentally or physically by WWE deserve justice even if years or later or in after life.

Wonder if this is why they were so quick to post her post-lawsuit apology. When that happened, I thought it was really strange. A woman had just died; why would you post her apologizing to you? Now, through the lens of this potential PR nightmare, it becomes more apparent why they would do something like that.

This is absolutely disgusting. I feel so bad for Ashley, no one should ever have to go through something like that.

Really sorry to hear that. Unfortunately this wasn't a unique situation in mid-2000s Kuwait/Qatar/Iraq.

I’m not surprised Vince tried to cover this stuff up, seeing his past troubles with this sort of accusations.

Said it in the other thread, but this story is sad, shocking, and infuriating all at once.
I hope like hell someone's able to talk to the other people from the trip to get some information about this, it can't just go unremarked on. Gary Hart obviously isn't around anymore, but I have to think the others could offer some kind of information, just might be tough given that at least a couple of them are still under WWE contract.
