Really sorry to hear that. Unfortunately this wasn't a unique situation in mid-2000s Kuwait/Qatar/Iraq. It's not unique in any wars.

I'm finding it harder and harder to understand how people can continue to support this putrid company. The organisation is completely morally bankrupt.

Seeing more people talk about this story so we'll see if this will start a huge movement against WWE. Maybe out of all the things that have happened this does something.

Yeah this seems like a dead issue. Unless Maria, Jimmy Hart, Laurenitis, Dunn ect come forward it wouldn’t be fair to put Vince on a public trail for this as much smoke as there is with his other shady incidents

Interesting that they've taken such a hard stance towards this. Unless someone comes out and says its true then this might be it.

Sounds like it was nothing all along. Ashley's lawyer was a well known ambulance chaser who probably told her to make the allegations to help win the lawsuit

I don't even know if the allegations are true or not but the fact that attorney's involved really gives WWE a scapegoat.

The fact they’re acknowledging it so directly gives me hope that it’s all BS and they’re on the narrow...
But you don’t f***ing know with this company. You just don’t.

The fact they’re acknowledging it so directly gives me hope that it’s all BS and they’re on the narrow... But you don’t f***ing know with this company. You just don’t. WWE rarely speaks against things like this so directly without their side of it being somewhat true. Many years ago Matt Hardy was sent home from a European tour for disciplinary reasons. Matt came out and said leaving was his choice and it was for personal reasons and WWE made a statement that said the decision was theirs and it was because of his behavior. When Paige got her second suspension, she said it was for a prescription drug that she didn't get cleared and WWE quickly said it was for something illegal. Granted this story makes them look very very horrible, Vince most especially. This could very well be them trying to spin the story to keep stock from tanking, but I'd argue it's riskier denying the entire thing and having it come out that it was very much true. They'd only do this if they were 100% sure the story is false or sure no one involved would confirm it. Given one of the people involved is Maria, who is not known for keeping silent on matters like these, I think the possibility is high that the story is false.

WON: Nobody on Ashley's Kuwait trip (Maria, Jimmy Hart, Ron Simmons, Gary Davis [not Gary Hart]) has corroborated the sexual assault allegation (Longtime WWE lawyer Jerry) McDevitt said that nobody has been able to corroborate the story, and that the idea there was such a meeting that she described with McMahon, Dunn and Laurinaitis was complete bullshit. He said those named as knowing, (Jimmy) Hart, (Gary) Davis and (Ron) Simmons who she said were told by Kanellis, have all denied knowing anything or being told anything. He said that when Kanellis was asked, she said she didn’t recall the story. “If she was told something like that, there is no way she wouldn’t recall it,” he said. “If somebody told you that, you would remember it for the rest of your life.” The only thing confirmed is that the part of the story that she was treated for dehydration on that tour is accurate, also worth noting: in Jimmy Hart's diary of the trip on WWE.com, he noted Ashley's return from the medical center: "While still weak, she insists on participating in our last photo session on base." www.wwe.com/inside/news/archive/straightfromthehart4Not only would that go against the basic timeline of events in the affidavit (where she said she was carried out in a blanket and taken back to her hotel room while so drugged she could hardly move or speak), it's presumably not even possible for her to have participated in that next event had she been so drugged she could hardly move or speak.

At this point, there has to be grounds to put some kind of restraining order on this lawyer, yeah?

The very first sentence tells you all you need to know that this is bullshit. I’m hoping Ashley didn’t come up with this on her own, and just put her trust in this sleazy lawyer. This guy is Jack Thompson but without the moral crusader delusion.

I suspect the truth is somewhere in between her shitty shady attorney's version of things and the WWE's extremely favorable to WWE version of things claimed by WWE's lawyer.
But she's dead now so we'll never know.

With how under-reported sexual assaults are for multitudes of reasons, I wouldn't be surprised if this actually happened, but Ashley never told anyone about it until she got talked into it by that ambulance chaser. I could also believe it's a giant cover-up (and not even one perpetrated by WWE higher ups) because we've seen these types of massive institutional cover-ups surrounding sexual assault a disturbing amount of times the past couple of decades or so.
