We buried the real story here......women of honor got a reaction. That's why he stood out so much. He was the only one reacting.

The only stuff that could have made this better is if he had told Bubba in the back "I respect you booker-man"
Velvet says.....he thinks it's funny I have sex with you....then Bubba wonders away calling himself a fat piece of shit.
That would be a solid angle.

Oh, Bubba don't ever change. He was even pushing around people (fans and otherwise) back when he was the stuttering clown. Look up what happened to the "sign guy" from the front row of the ECW Arena, back in 1996.

I saw someone comment that this incident happened on Velvet’s birthday. So I guess Bully Ray had to flex on this guy to try to keep her in a good mood or something.

Bully Ray has always been a jerkoff. I remember so many people telling me that he took the original sign guy at ECW outside and threatened him so he’d never bring his signs to shows again. He jacked a loyal fan and basically stole his gimmick from him. That’s when they were trying to get Sign Guy Dudley over. They were even competing with their signs for a couple weeks but the fan was showing him up so Bully Ray took it upon himself to physically intimidate the guy. Pulling this fan out of the crowd to take him backstage for a private confrontation with Bully Ray over such dumb stuff is ridiculous. The fan never made physical contact so I don’t see a reason for it, unless Mandy Leon really wanted to apologize for spitting on him because apparently she did make contact with him. Good luck ROH. Your attendance sucks now. This news should really help get those numbers up. Or not. Thank you for mentioning this story! This is a classic example of how Bully Ray has been living the gimmick all along, even back in the days when he was the lovable stuttering clown and supposed to be this mega babyface at that. Imagine John Cena slapping a Make-a-Wish kid or something similar! No wonder he fit so well into what they had them doing come 1998-99. Sadly he's not the only one like this in the business...but since people actually know him he gets well-deserved scrutiny. I remember just watching Hardcore TV and seeing Sign Guy on his own with nothing and wondering where his signs were. I subscribed to the Lariat back then, and soon Scherer reported this very story. (sadly he'd accept the act when they turned heel and say everyone including Bubba was doing a great job) Supposedly Bubba was butthurt because SG wasn't a fan of the Dudley gimmick, face or heel, and his repertoire every month had a few anti-Dudley signs ("Condoms prevent Dudleys!") Yes you may have security today at a WWE show take away signs they don't want on the air, but you didn't hear of, say, Roman personally threatening fans? WWE can troll me with their writing all they want, just don't personally bully people. EDIT: Wasn't Sign Guy Dudley Raven's idea anyway?

I'm not seeing the problem with having the fan brought backstage. If it went down the way it is stated, with him being told to knock it off and sent back to his seat, that's actually a pretty mature way to end the situation from a business standpoint. 1. It's bush league as f***. Regardless of what a fan does, short of putting hands on someone, just let security handle it if it is that big of a problem. Having a worker confront a fan is the kind of shit you expect from an Alabama indie or something, not a company like this. As someone else said, if this happened with Triple H and Steph, people would be calling for their heads. 2. YOU ARE A f***ING HEEL. Your job is literally to make people angry and get them to yell mean shit. If you are so thin skinned that you can't handle that, you're in the wrong profession. Heels used to get stabbed and not miss a date. Are we really at a point where we have to be nice to even the people we are paying money to hate or else? Shit like this is literally hurting not just THEIR ability to draw heat for fear they'll get butthurt, but the entire company's ability to draw heat. Even getting security over someone saying mean things is comical. If this is where we're at, then we might as well get rid of heels altogether. 3. Given what we've heard about Bubba over the years, and all the shit he has said and heard said to crowds, is there REALLY any doubt that this happened because his girlfriend was involved? Especially considering there is always someone in the crowd, going too far every single night, and yet he just so happens to choose an incident involving his girlfriend to decide to take a stand? Nah. There are a million reasons this is bad, and doubly so considering ROH is in no position to absorb any negative press or lose any fanbase. If all that happened was the dude said mean shit (which I kinda suspect since no fans have come forward to point out otherwise), then it's best to leave him be.

Yeah, there is absolutely no excuse for bringing the fan backstage to essentially be threatened by a very large wrestler.
If he's that bad kick him out or even get the police involved. There is no level where "intimidate him backstage" is an acceptable response.

The actual act of telling the fan to smarten up is fine, but no way it should’ve been Bubba doing it. Especially with his personal relationship with the alleged targeted talent. If there was an issue, it should’ve been building security or the security liaison for ROH who dealt with the fan. If some fan acted like a dick at an AEW event and said something shitty to Brandi Rhodes, I would give them shit if it was Cody who handled things with the fan. It’s bush league as f***. It would be acceptable for an Indy where the talent double as literally all the staff, but for ROH or another national promotion. Completely out of line.

If a talent spat at a fan at a WWE or AEW show, they'd probably be gone and justifiably so.

I still contend there's way more to this story than what we're hearing. The reactions he got from both of the women tells me it was more than simple trash talk that got them all so pissed at him. Not excusing the spitting, but something predated it.

I've gone to wrestling events for about twenty years. I've seen fans yell scummy stuff at talent, I've seen wrestlers yell back, signs confiscated, etc etc. This the first time I've heard of anyone getting taken backstage and intimidated by one of the guys in charge of stuff. It's wild.

Taking the guy backstage will probably only serve to have more fans do something unruly or against policy or against the higher ups in a company on the belief they can be brought backstage. The guy in this case might have enjoyed it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Jericho attempts a spitting incident within a few weeks or months. The guy has a legendary career yet doesn't seem content with that, he wants to push the envelope and heel things up and blur the lines between real and fake.

Well. There's no way this guy's story is the whole story. ROH would be wise to get their side out there.
That said.
Regardless of what this guy said, wrestlers, do not spit on paying customers. Do not spit on paying customers. DO NOT SPIT ON PAYING CUSTOMERS! You wanna hurl insults? Sure, go for it! Spitting is way over the line and if this guy got spit on, the spitter needs to be suspended.
You wanna take this guy in the back and talk to him? Again, sure. Sounds like something must've happened to warrant it.
That said.
Sending big bad tough guy wrestlers to get in the face of and intimidate some paying customer is BAD f***ING NEWS!
Get your f***ing head on straight, ROH. You're running this company ass backwards.
EDIT: Per Bryan Alvarez on WOL, no one can confirm anything about the backstage stuff, but what happened in the front of the crowd is accurate to the fan's description.

Sure, as long as you fire the security team that should've been preventing fans from smacking your talent too and offer the talent you're firing a fat severance package. You booked the guy to go out in the crowd, you're responsible for protecting him.
