It is kind of crazy that he's not in the tournament. He can barely bump these days, having him do 9 singles matches in a month would possibly kill him Suzuki might well kill death itself.

Is there a more a horribly booked title then the Jr Heavyweight Tag titles? These things just keep getting shuffled around. And maybe they should have let Ishimori do the talking and not Phantasmo. At least Taguchi is lowering the cringe. The Never championship has only been retained once the past 9 months. The Jr Tag Champs have been able to hold it longer than a month Bad enough Desperado and Kanemaru held them shits for nearly a year and basically fought RPG3K the whole time

I honestly kinda like that the NEVER title moves around a lot, even if I wish Cobb got a little more time with it. It sorta makes it feel highly contested despite being I guess the equivalent of the European title or something.

So ZBJ is putting both his G1 spot and the Rev Pro title on the line? How does that make sense what does he get if he wins?

So ZBJ is putting both his G1 spot and the Rev Pro title on the line? How does that make sense what does he get if he wins? Not the point. He's so confident that he can beat YOSHI-HASHI that it doesn't matter what's on the line, it won't change the fact that Zack is coming out the winner. This way ZSJ also makes sure that YH gives is all as it doubles the stakes for him, making his victory mean at least a bit more. It also shows him as not afraid of challenges from anyone. It's not about what he wins, it's more about putting YH in his place and showing everyone how much better he is.

I neither like ZSJ or want Suzuki in the G1, but there is some stretch thinking I’ve seen of ZSJ losing, Suzuki losing it on him to cause a rift and clobbering Yoshi and entering.
That’s also totally uncharacteristic of NJPW and nonsense booking, so yeah, ZSJ will beat him while Yoshi puts up a valiant fight that leads nowhere.

I'm surprised nobody's come up with a galaxy brain scenario where somehow Liger takes the spot from Minoru after he takes it from Yoshi after he takes it from ZSJ.

Sabre vs Hashi is now also for a spot in the G1 Don’t you dare Gado. If Gedo does this, he's lost his mind. I was disappointed Suzuki wasn't in it, but justified it by no Yoshi-Hashi.

I wouldn’t have been shocked if they’d upped it to 24 people this year. Suzuki, Yoshi-Hashi, and Makabe are perennials and they have plenty of people floating around to be a fourth. Kojima, Yujiro, Nichols, Brody King, borrowing a guy from RoH like PCO or Silas Young.

I seriously doubt this happens. I wish Kojima and Suzuki were in, but I could go without the others.

It's just a little storyline to hype their main event match, and give YOSHI some emotion about not making the cut. He's able-bodied, so it makes sense that he wants in the G1 versus someone like Makabe who didn't even care.
Results from Fukushima:
TenCozy d. Nagata & Tsuji - Kojima pinned Tsuji after a Lariat Taichi & Kanemaru d. Tiger Mask & Uemura - Kanemaru submitted Uemura with a Boston Crab GOD & Yujiro d. Robinson, Nicholls & Narita - Yujiro pinned Narita after Pimp Juice EVIL, Shingo & BUSHI d. Makabe, Honma & Liger - EVIL pinned Honma after an EVIL (STO) Naito & SANADA d. Ibushi & Umino - SANADA made Umino tap with Skull End Tanahashi, Henare, Taguchi & Roppongi 3K d. White, Owens, ELP, Ishimori & Gedo - Taguchi made Gedo tap with an Ankle Lock Okada, Ishii, Yano & YOSHI-HASHI d. Suzuki, ZSJ, Archer & DOUKI - Ishii pinned DOUKI after a Brainbuster

I wonder if YOSHI loses, throws a big fit, and betrays CHAOS in some fashion.
Either way, even if YOSHI-HASHI got in, he'd get a losing record. Like, who the hell would he even get wins over? Whereas Sabre's usually presented as pretty formidable.

Remember last G1 when Tana had people believing he was starting a new faction with YOSHI and Hangman Page? Then one broke his face and the other left?

Tana would take him for his broken bird faction, or perhaps CHAOS splits with a strong style faction and an Okada led faction. LIJ, Bullet Club, and Suzukigun wouldn't.

Whereas Sabre's usually presented as pretty formidable. Pretending he does get in (I agree that there is 99.99% no chance on Earth Gedo would book Sabre to drop his spot to YH, nor would RevPro look for Sabre's title reign to end that way), to be fair even a sub-.500 performance would at least still have more juice behind it due to the circumstance of how he got in. It's part of why I've said I'd love to see them do "play in" tournaments in some years for final spots in the G1 during years where there isn't a crystal clear 20 man field, it'd justify some of the odd ball choices (e.g. people being surprised at Archer being in this year) and would take a guy who would probably only finish with 6 points or whatever but make them feel like a bigger deal just for making it that far. Bright side of this match is that YH played his role well in the 10 man elimination tag, and showed more fire than he has in forever, and the crowd was digging it. Down side, he's not likely going to win, and it's doubtful anything quickly comes of it, as mini-pushes like this often seem more about maintaining a guy's spot on the roster than anything else, and YOSHI's spot is basically being that kind of "on the bubble" guy who's a click above the D-tier in NJPW, but can't be counted on to rise above C-tier. If they did want to go somewhere with this, then I'd agree that they should either have him snap following a loss with so much on the line, or put him in some kind of angle where he can finally come through with at least some moderate level of success; given how poorly the heavyweight tag scene's been booked for awhile now, I'd consider getting him into a tag set up where he breaks through and wins his first gold that way, ala Honma.
