I never finished either hahahahah and was looking at the PS5 patch like "Well maybe now". It is super tense and I just felt drained and bummed out after sessions.

Yea, pretty much same thing It is a taxing game to play without those breaks to breath like the first one. Like the moments after a big mission for this one, even in "down time" I know some major shit is about to happen again

It will probably be a marvel to look at, but I can’t do that to myself again.

Most of Last of Us 2 is a great game
However the amount of its playtime that is interminable misery slog is as long as the first game in its entirety
Might play a few hours again one day just to hear someone shout 'they killed Roy!' again or something

I never finished either hahahahah and was looking at the PS5 patch like "Well maybe now". It is super tense and I just felt drained and bummed out after sessions. The Last of Us Part II is like Alien Isolation for me; I had to take many a break to get through until I got some of the later weapons which helped a smidge. Was cathartic as f*** doing a second playthrough with one-hit kills, infinite ammo, and slow-mo aim. Also, I did a second playthrough and I have thoughts! {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}A second run of the story didn't change too much, but after playing The Last of Us before Part II, I do appreciate more why they chose to kill Joel. I mean, it didn't bother me in the first place, but honestly, Joel in the first game is a main secondary character. It's weird as hell how they did it (in a good way), but it's still interesting to me how *right* it was to kill Joel; his story was done.
I'm not as big a fan of Abby's portion as I was first go-around, though. I mean, she's fine, but it was honestly just getting more gameplay time for me. I don't know if Part III has a bigger role for her as I feel like Ellie's immunity should be spotlight for a finale, but eh.

After taking a second look at this, here's my thoughts.
Graphically, it's pretty, the gameplay is high end. Those parts are top notch. However if you liked the first one for the story it told, this one ventures far away from that. There are lots of storyline points and decisions that make no sense to me other than being done to get to an ending they decided on.
I also have a hard time believing there'll be another game. This game literally destroyed the fan base.

Naughty Dog would be insane not to do another one. It's like (and I can't believe I'm making this comparison) Nickleback; sure everyone who hates them online is super loud about it but they still sell millions of records every time.

I am thinking of going through another run with this soon. But at the same time I want to do the first game. Not sure which way to go.

I am thinking of going through another run with this soon. But at the same time I want to do the first game. Not sure which way to go. Do the first game three times. It'll be more fun and feel less repetitive, and at the end of it, you won't wish you were dead. Or at least not more than usual, I don't know your mental health situation.

I want them to do a PS5 remaster of the first. I’d so happily play that again multiple times. Im debating putting TLOU2 on my PS5 and just jumping into a chapter that isn’t mentally scarring just to see how it looks … maybe the open Seattle (I think?) area with Dina early in the game.

Here's my thing, I like Naughty Dog. TLOU 1 is a top notch game, probably their best effort, but 2 really sank the franchise.
TLOU 1 as a stand alone game tops uncharted, as a series uncharted wins because they kept what made all the games work.
What happened in TLOU2 would be like if they just decided to randomly kill Drake's wife because he beat someone to a treasure.

As someone who hasn't finished the game and still hasn't spoiled the ending for myself but have not heard good things, the game is just brutal to play through
I'm not going say it sank the franchise because they financially made big on this even if reception wasn't good but it is a bleak game to play through. TLOU1 was tough but TLOU2 exhaust your brain which doesn't really happen for me for games

I’d be so cool with this game if it just ended before the entire unforgivable epilogue chapter. {Spoiler} More specifically, right before fxxxing Tommy shows up and ruins everything. I wish he got taken down by bloaters on his journey over.

Loved Part 2. Yeah, I don’t enjoy being bummed out, but all the bad shit just made it more real. That’s life, man.

Yeah Part 2 beats you down pretty bad but it makes sense in the world they've crafted.
It's probably one of the best and most memorable games I've ever played. Part 1 is great but Part 2 is just on another level imo.

Part 1 is great but Part 2 is just on another level imo. I don't hate the approach If anything they need to find a sweet spot between the big areas and story telling. TLOU1 was more a linear experience so you had your moments to breath. Meanwhile, TLOU2 isn't open world but has open areas which basically keeps you on edge the whole time It makes sense to have you on edge but it is not really a game you just pick up and play. You have to be immersed which in itself is big time for players who want to lose themselves in the world
