Big He-Man fan, so I'll give it a shot, but Kevin Smith's involvement does not fill me with confidence in this project.

God, I'm so f***ing sad that seeing Kevin Smith's name announced with nerd shit now causes me to cringe in fear rather than get excited, like the old days, but.....here we are.

Kevin Smith is an odd choice for this, but I'm assuming this is the project that he was talking about on his podcast a few weeks back that he wasn't allowed to go into specifics about, and he's pretty excited about it.

I'm going to join in the chorus of ughs for Kevin Smith. While I don't doubt he has some fondness for it, the only thing of his I've genuinely enjoyed was Dogma.
He seems to be the lazy go to choice for nerd culture stuff these days, regardless of whether or not he's a good choice.

I've never encountered a Kevin Smith work I didn't thoroughly enjoy, so I'm stoked for this.

I like Kevin but as a director on He-Man? I expect a lot of jokes about being gay and acts of sex.

It doesn't say he's directing as much as being executive producer and showrunner which are completely different roles.
Sure, he's still got a big involvement in the project but I'd rather see who he gets involved with actual episodes outside of the writers (who do seem really solid and know the series which is what you'd want from a project as specific as this).
And I say this as someone who's mostly meh on Smith's work.

I’m a big fan of both Masters and Smith. It’s an interesting pairing, but I’m more than willing to give it a shot.

I've yet to see a Netflix cartoon that I didn't completely enjoy, so this gets the benefit of the doubt from me.

I'm down. I mean, I have Netflix, anyway, can't hurt to try it.
I am just kind of pleasantly surprised this is coming out at all. The MOTU rights have been obnoxiously tied up for a while due to the maybe happening??? live action movie, so this is a good sign that things are less finicky now.

DC seems to be allowed to do a lot of crazy stuff with the MOTU comics in the last few years. That Masters of the Multiverse series coming up seems like it'll be a giant heap of fun.

Hey, anything that gets new He-Man on TV SHOULD be okay with me.
"Anime"? Wish people were more open minded about other 2D styles today, but whatever. Will probably be somewhere between the Netflix Voltron and She-Ra series.
Kevin Smith I am hmmmmm about, haven't really read his stints on well-known comics so not sure how he handles classic characters. Doubt he makes them smoke pot and etc. etc. though. Has he eviscerated any such characters the way, say, Michael Bay or Zack Snyder has?
Anyway, it Reeks of getting a "popular" name shoehorned in, but we'll see if working with other writers leads to something good.
And I know MOTUC displaced all other modern takes on the franchise, but did the Filmation series, not being episodic, need a conclusion? I still want my MYP vs. Evil Horde season! (but even so, Hordak and etc. are probably tied up with the She-Ra cartoon now)

New Adventures of He-Man is the only He-Man series to actually have a conclusion

Guessing that movie's continuing to have issues surrounding it then.
Either way, I might give it a look but I can tell on the face of it I won't like this nearly as much as I do the She-Ra reboot.

As long as the villains arent clumsy oafs, thats what always put me off the original series (not that Cobra, the Decepticons, the Horde, etc were military geniuses or anything, but Skeletor and his crew were out of the Wile E Coyote school of villany, thank goodness the 2000s remake was somewhat of an improvement).

Not a MOTU fan, but I do like Kevin Smith.
For those that are iffy about his involvement, I recommend watching the announcement at PowerCon. It really drives the talent and care going into the show, and comes across as Smith not really do much outside of showrunning on name value. He even goes as far to say that his brand of humor won’t be seen in the final product.
