I liked Mordecai. But then again that kind of character is right up my alley.
I think he was aces as Kevin Thorn and wish that gimmick had been given more to work with.
I still think he could've survived without Ariel, but she did add a lot to his presentation.
Plus he had kick ass entrance music.

Mordecai was a decent enough gimmick, but Fertig sucked. Cool looking, but he lacked charisma and the it factor more than most developmental guys from that era, and you need those things to make supernatural gimmicks work. I'd compare him to Glacier, just a bad choice.
Then there's the Jason Sensation allegations, so f Fertig.

Man, I'm so glad I stopped watching 2004 SD just before WM 20. Motherf***er looked like Colonel Sanders. Evil Colonel Sanders is a money gimmick and a wasted opportunity. |

This is when the single brand PPV’s started to suck for me as it was evident that Smackdown in particular didn’t have the roster depth for a full PPV. You had dud new guys like Mordecai, Kenzo Suzuki & Luther Reigns and irrelevant midcarders like Scotty 2 Hotty, Billy Gunn & Hardcore Holly. Rene Dupree got a US Title feud with Cena. JBL got a main event push before the character was truly over.
Anyway yeah sorry Mordecai was an interesting humid but it was obvious pretty early on and he wasn’t very good at all. Didn’t really improve much as Kevin Thorn either.

Mordecai went about as far as he should have, honestly. He was just as useless as Kenzo Suzuki except not nearly as funny to rewatch.
