Impact to start covering wrestlers hotel costs on the road

Impact Wrestling is now picking up the bill for hotel costs while talents are on the road, according to PWInsider.

Impact officials told talents back in May that they were working on covering hotel costs as a way to give back to the locker room, by absorbing some of the financial burden of being on the road.

Impact recently covered hotel costs for talents while they were in Mexico, but talents were still paying for their own hotels for shows in the United States and Canada. That is about to change as hotels will be covered moving forward, beginning with next week's Impact TV tapings in Las Vegas.

It was noted that all signs point to this being a new, consistent road policy for Impact.

Sometimes you have to be an asshole with contracts, otherwise there’s no point in having contracts. Why sign someone to a 3 year deal, if you’re gonna fold and give them what they want when they decided they’re suddenly too good for the original deal after 1 year?

Can’t be the good guy all the time, sometimes you have to stand your ground or you lose credibility and control over others. If they roll over for Kross what’s stopping Brian Cage or Taya, champs with actual leverage, from showing up at the next TV taping and demanding a raise or they won’t go out? Or what stops Kross from trying this again in 6 months now that he knows you have no backbone?

This isn’t Luke Harper who quietly asked for a release 6 months early in a billion dollar company, this is a dude who attempted to use the court of public opinion to strong arm a company that’s barely treading water. I don’t blame them for standing their ground, even knowing it’s the unpopular move.

Right. When you're looking to get new TV and to make a splash, this is the perfect time to cut dead weight, and when you really do not want bad PR stories following you. Make a clean break.

One taping I wouldn’t call petty, I’d call that trying to send a message. If he’s not on the Vegas taping, then I’ll start asking more questions. Once they agreed to re-negotiate the deal, they had to be willing to play bad guy if they couldn’t come to terms. I imagine the next play is tell him to be at the Vegas tapings to see if he shows up and go from there.

Personally, I’d be calling his bluff right now and letting him talk to other companies. If you’re as valuable as you say you are, you’ll have no problem finding someone to buyout your contract and invest in you as a future commodity. Somebody buys out the deal, they’re free to have you.

Yea, that's not happening. Only like 20 wrestlers on the planet would be worth double dipping on.

AEW and WWE would say f*** that we will wait until his contract ends and then we offer him a new deal. Indies are obviously not going to do that

To put it in proper perspective, they are on the road for taping blocks so they will only bring people they need which makes this easier

So long as I have been booked or under contract from ROH (mid 2014), we have had trans and hotel covered. I'm glad to see the trend continuing.

Seriously though, that's a good deal to have, as long as they keep it up and don't try to get out of paying the bill. It'll prob'ly give newer talent incentive to try out as well, knowing that they'll at least have a guaranteed place to stay in addition to what they're getting paid.

And yeah, let Kross go, he doesn't want to be there and having him sit out is petty as hell. I'd get rid of Swann/Su Yung, Elgin, and Josh Mathews as well, but that's just me.

I remember 2 years how Anthem couldnt even pay the parking lots for the talent during BFG2017 week and if we go a few more years back Dixie couldnt even pay the talent and production team.

Its great news that Anthem is helping covering costs.
