Are there any objective metrics you can judge a music hall of fame by besides total record/album sales and tickets sold? Otherwise, it's completely subjective according to taste and the amount of famous modern day musicians you can find to say how much X musician was an influence on them (who will always exist for any popular artist). Anything else comes off as music snobbery and elitism. Maybe early and/or innovative uses of technology and other mediums? There's various equipment and instruments, obviously, but maybe also like an Alice Cooper who turned concerts into horror themed stage shows, changing what a concert experience could be like? These things ultimately still wind up being things that influenced others, but can also stand on their own regardless.

In my book, Soundgarden should be in there for sure. They were a multiracial band whose biggest selling record was also their most esoteric and experimental, and that record is not only their best, it's also considered one of the greatest in it's Genre (Heavy Metal/Hard Rock). I also think NIN is a lock for this year, considering Trent Reznor is from Cleveland. Reznor is from my neck of the woods. He's a New Castle, PA boy.

That is a solid list it is hard to narrow it down. I might leave off NIN & Soundgarden because maybe it’s too early and they will get there eventually and bands like Motörhead, Priest & Thin Lizzy should have been in years ago. I would give the nod to those 3 and then maybe Depeche Mode & Kraftwerk. But it’s hard to leave MC5 out.
As said really good list I was amazed Thin Lizzy in particular are not already in.
And out of the nu metal bands I definitely can see Slipknot getting in but it might take a while. Korn maybe. The others I’m not so sure. Maybe Linkin Park will be looked back at more fondly despite their weak discography. As good as SOAD & Deftones are I have a hard time seeing them getting in. Disturbed I would be very surprised if they ever got in. Ditto Limp Bizkit.

And Reanimated I think did really good too... the rest yeah probably not.

My friend's sister smoked weed with Dave Matthews when he was still a local act in Richmond and Charlottesville.

Just my opinion, but I’d say SOAD and the Deftones totally earn it on their quality. Korn, Linkin Park, and Disturbed MIGHT get it based on record sales. Can pretty much ignore every other Nu-metal band ETA: And Slipknot should be first ballot. Enormously successful in their own right and the biggest group as far as introducing extreme sounds to a worldwide audience since Slayer. No metalcore or deathcore, at least not on the same level, without these guys.

Korn I think would be a sure thing based on their pioneer status but it may be a while since hard rock/metal get ignored too much by the Hall.

A pretty solid list honestly, some omissions I could go on about many times over. I may break my "not attend a ceremony until Alice In Chains and Oasis get in" rule and go this year as this class all are worthy of it. Motorhead, Whitney Houston, T Rex, Thin Lizzy and Soundgarden will be emotional speeches for sure, and off site after jam that usually happens every year will be a damn good one too.

I would really like to see Kraftwerk get in finally, they revolutionized an entire style of music and were one of the most forward thinking bands out there.
This is one of their earliest performances from 1970 and it sounds like nothing else that was going on at the time. This could come out today and sound fresh.

Where be Maiden?
It’s A Matter Of Life And Death that they get in at some point
Of course they wait for Lemmy to die before getting around to nominating Motorhead.
